SINGAPORE: Business came to a standstill for over an hour at Sim Lim Square on Saturday, due to a fire at a restaurant in the building.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted about the incident at about 1.30pm.
It happened in House Kitchen which is located on the second floor of the building.
Police and building owners evacuated the complex, asking shopowners and shoppers to leave the building due to heavy smoke.
Shopowners told Channel NewsAsia that they heard the explosion sound from the restaurant, before it was engulfed in smoke.
Blowers were turned on to ventilate the building for about 45 minutes.
By 3pm, the building re-opened.
There were no injuries.
