SINGAPORE: In support of Total Defence Day which falls on February 15, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be sounding the "Important Message" signal through the islandwide Public Warning System at 12.05pm.
Members of the public are advised not to be alarmed by the minute-long signal, which is characterised by pulsating blasts.
SCDF said when the
signal goes off, the public can immediately tune in to any local radio
station to listen to a special info-mercial broadcast.
It adds
that the sounding exercise is part of its continuous efforts to
familiarise the public with the three Public Warning System signals and
to raise awareness on how they should react upon hearing each signal.
The
other two signals are the "Alarm" and the "All Clear" signals, which
are characterised by wailing blasts and continuous blasts respectively.
