SINGAPORE: A fire broke out at a flat in Yishun on Sunday morning.
The owner of the flat, who was injured, was brought to the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
The blaze broke out
at 10.30am in a 4 room unit, located at Blk 765, Yishun Street 72. SCDF
officers took about 15 minutes to put out the fire. By then, the fire
had ravaged most parts of the house, especially the master bedroom.
The
blaze also affected residents on other floors. Some 30 residents living
on the second and third floors were evacuated as a precautionary
measure.
Some residents told Channel News Asia that this is third
time, a fire had taken place at the same unit. The cause of the fire is
still being investigated.
The 56-year old owner, who suffered
burns on his legs and head, was alone at the time of the fire. He lives
in the flat with his wife, daughter and maid.
The flat owner's
niece said: "Now we are clearing all those clothes that are not burnt.
There are very little clothes, nothing else is left everything has been
burnt. Of course, it's very sad, we will try to help, because I'm the
niece, so whatever we can, our family members will help them. Hopefully
my uncle is OK in the hospital."
