SINGAPORE: A huge fire broke out on Tuesday at 4 Rowell Road, off Serangoon Road, just before 7pm.
It took Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) officers more than one hour to fight the blaze and to prevent it from spreading to adjacent units.
Traffic around the
area was also disrupted as hundreds of onlookers gathered to watch the
blaze. Some told MediaCorp that they could see the smoke from Tekka
Market.
SCDF officers said the shophouse contained automotive
parts and that a middle-aged man, who suffered from burns and smoke
inhalation, was taken to hospital.
A fire-fighter was also seen receiving medical treatment.
The SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
