SINGAPORE : A fire broke out in an HDB flat in Toa Payoh Lorong 5 on Wednesday afternoon, injuring four people and causing damage to property.
Witnesses told Channel NewsAsia that they heard loud sounds, and saw fire and thick smoke coming out from the flat.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it took about seven minutes to put out the fire.
It
added that one of the bedrooms and items placed along the corridor were
completely burnt, while the rest of the flat and corridor were damaged.
SCDF said no one was in the flat when they arrived - they had left the unit before the SCDF arrived.
A makeshift first-aid point was set up at a playground nearby to attend to residents who were affected by the fire.
SCDF said two adults and two children suffered a range of injuries - from breathlessness to minor burns.
Three of them were residents of the unit.
All four injured persons have been sent to the hospital.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.

Everytime I hear "Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing."
and there is no follow up and the cause of the fire not reported.
So we never know the cause of the fire.
And we never learn any preventive actions.
