Hey guys,
My lil bro is entering SCDF for his NS (he decided not to defer). Would like to know whether there is a hazing/ragging culture in SCDF at the CDA or the training institute for SCDF recruits. I know there was one incident; the hazing issue at one of the Fire Stations in 2008.
I ord-ed already from SPF 8 years ago so not familiar with SCDF. My lil bro is one of those peaceful guys. Not quiet but he has had a history of being picked on. He has a black belt in Taekwando (my entire family has belts, father is a martial arts freak) but he's very smell-the-roses kind of person and he suffers from anxiety attacks.
So yeah, would like to know if there is a prevalent hazing/ragging culture in the SCDF.
Would really appreciate your insights...thanks!
during my time, there wasn't any..
and there were signs almost everywhere to warn that its not allowed..
When was your time? For me, fortunately, I didnt experienced any in the SPF. They were pretty strict and also, the culture there was very communal.
To the current dudes serving in the SCDF now, is there a ragging/hazing culture?
2006 - 2008..
doubt there's any now as strict action will be taken if it happens..
Please lah, tell you lil bro what to do, how to handle himself and leave it at that. He is being picked on because people spot him and sees he is asking Pick On Me Please by his body language.
Tell him he must bolster himself up, you and your dad cannot be around him all the time. He has already been given the basics of defending himself, it is now up to him.
He has inferiority complex because you and your dad don't believe he is capable of defending himself.
All I'm asking is whether there's a ragging culture in SCDF. Nothing malicious.
what mancha said is true.
