STOMPer JD was appalled at the lack of patience drivers
displayed at an accident site in Novena, as they honked and refused to
give way to an ambulance. Yes, it is peak hour, but somebody was hurt
and needed help urgently, she reasons.
JD commented:
"This picture was taken earlier this evening (May 13).
"An
accident occurred at the cross junction at Novena. Although there were
no fatalities, the motorist, a lady, was hurt from the impact of the
accident, even though she immediately got up after the crash.
"Also, the driver of the other car involved was nice and did not hit-and-run despite the peak hour traffic.
"Here's
the best part however. The ambulance and police were stuck in the heavy
traffic because nobody wanted to give way! Instead, everybody honked at
the ambulance which approached the accident site thinking the injured
person was still there, when she had already been escorted to a seating
area nearby.
"When the ambulance tried to make its way nearer to
where the injured woman was, all the drivers and motorists started
honked again!
"Goodness! It's an ambulance for crying out loud
and the very fact that its making its way to the pavement shows that
someone needs help!
"Come on Singaporeans! Please learn to be patient and cultured!!!"
we are still a third world country after all...
if it's their love ones....

frankly, lots of people think only of themselves
This is the symptom, from the lack of education a long time ago.
i hear that nowadays, they're not really allowed to use the siren at night. apparently, it disturbs the peace. SCDF is quite concerned with the public's opinion.

in e past there also used to be accidents esp at big junctions.. siren some ppl still dun bother.

there is a difference between compassion and education..
you can't teach compassion and the uneducated can be the most compassionate people...
the people here are just being... uncouth, barbaric and self-centred
There is a great difference between learning a skill and education.

this is BS to me. if there's really an emergency, public opinion come first or "protect and save lives and property" (SCDF mission) come first? of course drivers don't use them in the middle of the night on a clear expressway. but when it's needed? hope they prioritise.
i know right? it seems that SCDF seems to care more about public opinion than their own people, and the people they're supposed to be saving.
heard of the case a few years back where a Red Rhino driver accidentally hit the back of a taxi while on the way to a fire?
