SINGAPORE: A Vietnamese woman was killed early Friday morning when a taxi ploughed into the five-foot way in front of a pub along Geylang Road near the junction of Lorong 41.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was informed of the accident at 4.17am.
An ambulance was despatched and the 30-year-old woman, who had head injuries, was pronounced dead by paramedics at 4.38am.
She was believed to be part of a gathering seated at a table in front of the pub at the time of the accident.
SCDF said that a Chinese man, who is the taxi driver, suffered a shoulder injury and was sent to Changi General Hospital.
The driver, who is in his late forties, has been arrested for causing death by a rash act.
A pillar of the shophouse where the pub was located was also damaged as a result of the accident.
