A fire broke out at an office in the Defu Lane industrial estate this morning.
A hotline caller Mr Phua was working in the area when he heard the fire alarm.
"I saw that there's a heavy smoke coming out from one of the unit. I
know the fourth floor they usually deal with plastic material, because
the smoke smell that emanated resembled burning plastic."
The Civil Defence Force received a call just before 10 am.
Firefighters arrived at the scene within minutes and managed to put out the fire in 10 minutes.
An SCDF spokesperson told MediaCorp that the unit was locked up and empty.
There were no casualties but occupants at the block were evacuated as a
safety precaution.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
