Do not leave your decorative lighting fixtures switched on when you leave your house or go to bed.
That's what the Singapore Civil Defence Force would like you to know this festive season.
It's urging all members of the public to continue to be vigilant against fire occurrences over the Lunar New Year period.
It says that whether preparing for the festivities such as cooking or baking festive goodies, or hosting family gatherings, bearing in mind simple fire safety tips can prevent injuries and damage to property caused by fire.
Among other things, it says that decorations such as lantern made of light tissue paper or cardboard should not be attached to lights or placed near heat resources as they burn easily.
Also, it says that children playing with sparklers must be supervised by parents or adults.
