gd luck to all the recruits... greetings from CDA
they booked out today..
I'm still waiting for them to post their experiences in camp..
.
nice to hear your 1st book out experience..
well, I was almost if not exactly like you & the kiwi that is issued to you is considered those low quality kind so I recommend you to get the original kiwi brand as well as get the netural type of kiwi so as to make your boots shiny..
regarding the mess tray, you're not the only one coz I'm one of them as well..it gets very oily especially when there's oily stuffs so just bear with it & as long as you wash it before using then its should not be a major problem..
btw, if I'm not wrong, you're booking in tomorrow nite by 8.30pm right..

CDA or jalan bahar camp? different leh, even though same location now
Originally posted by Allvyn:Ah my experience was really varied. A huge roller coaster of a ride compared to my civilian lifestyle. Learning the new basic footdrills were really fun and all with all the shouting hehe.
Just finished polishing my boots with the standard issue KIWI but I don't think it looks shiny enough ha. Let me see... I couldn't sleep well on the first 2 nights cus some guy in my bunk set the alarm to 4am as a joke and the fact that I couldn't drop dead and sleep on the dot amplified the damage...
During all the talks in the huge hall by the senior officers, we could literally see a load of recruits falling asleep all over, myself included unfortunately despite my best efforts to keep my head up lol
A MAJOR downside to me would be the fact that it is near impossible to wash the mess tray and cutlery to perfection in the time that we have so I'm considering some alternative to being able to eat in a more hygenic manner... This really bothers me at the moment and I'm thinking of approaching one of the more senior officers in camp for some advice. OOOhhh and did I mention that one of the camps big guys actually sat down on the floor to chat with a few of us outside the Medical Center after overhearing the laughter my new friends and I were having(he approached me a short while earlier when I was inside the medical center where I mentioned my deep feeling of depression etc). He has got me thinking of signing on now but I'm still struggling to perform the footdrills due to my inability to get accustomed to the malay commands. I should soon however.
lol. can't be worse than my first exprience at foot drill. i could never get the commands right, i was even asked to shout "pandan, banana, pandan!"lol. i got my platoon mate to write down the commands and i spent the entire night memorizing them.
lol yeah the talks quite boring. did you see captain segar? is he still there?
speaking of captain segar, brings back memories for me..

u like him?
ok, but he's not very strict as compared to other company's captains..
at least he gave us some benefits..
.
wow, you've to book in tomorrow at 8am so early or you mean 8pm..
just try to make friends while you're inside camp & never get into fights as its not really worth it..if you face any problems, just let your instructors know..and as for captain segar, he's from charlie company..
.
ya, I'm from charlie company 101st intake if you wish to know..
yes, its better you report to your higher authorities rather than taking matters into your own hands unless you wish to serve your NS for a longer period of time that is..
.
nope, I'm not too sure about Encik John but I do know that both alpha & bravo companies are always spending their time 1/2 right-ing..
super kilat I must say..
.
hey Allwyn- the first 2 -3 wks are always going to seem difficult adjusting and its certainly ok if u seem to be getting along better with people from your race cuz thats only normal. Are you from platoon 1 or 2?
First week must have been boring for you, but im sure that the upcoming weeks are going to be even more of an experience for you. I certainly miss BRTC!
P.S better book in by 7.30pm today

encik currant john issit (i am not sure if i spell his name right)
amazing fella, i like alpha and charlie's encik la. bravo is encik tong. lol he's good, but like durian like that - always giving that grumpy old man attitude. but he's a good person.
anyway encik john i really respect. he doesn't abuse power and eager to share his knowledge and life story. never too uppity to say a warm hello etc. very good person.

dumbdumb!, I am curious about how encik John built his body the way he did. He looks like one tough motherf****r and thats really impressive. I mean that in a good way too. Few more hours to book in = D
book in already ah.
he eats and goes to the gym lor. but he's not built to run i think. but his body is good for lifting casualties, carrying heavy equipments.. breaking down doors, demolishing buildings.. u get what i'm getting at. lol
gotta wait till next Friday for their next book out..
