SINGAPORE : A vessel caught fire at the Drydocks World at No 33 Tuas Crescent on Wednesday morning.
One worker has been sent to the Singapore General Hospital for second degree burns.
Singapore Civil Defence Force officers arrived at the accident site at about 11.50am.
The fire was confined to an area near the engine of the ship.
Fire fighters brought the fire under control within 20 minutes. — CNA/ms

The yards usually have stringent safety regulations. But the thing is workers usually dun follow them.
And you are right. The workers are torn between the need to finish the work on time and safety regulation.
I have to say...following all the safety rules and regulations in shipyard is easier said then done...if everyone start to follow exactly...i dun think much work can really be done.....i always go shipyard that is why i know lol....

Same at other heavy industry. B4 work start, brief all instructions be it work or technical ones, that also include safety. And you know how thick are those files? If finished briefing, time to pack up for home u know! In this world, time is $$$. Follow Law? Follow Rules? Come on man. Ask any technical man he/she will have millions of 'stories' to share.
