  hi, anyone here chose scdf as a career? can share how the firefighter life like? i'm a diploma holder and thinking of signing on after ns.

  bad idea. don't sign on if you're just a diploma holder.
  
  very hard to get promoted, and if u sway, get condemned, become SRB PS.
  
  take my word for it. don't ever sign on in scdf. i've talked to a few people, all regret.
  
  its not all glamour la, if u want to sign on, get paper qualification. degree, whatever.

  oh what a blow. anyway whats special about SRB? whats the PS stand for?

  Yeah, better don't sign on...anyway SRB stands for Special Rescue Battalion & PS stands for Platoon Sargent

  It's the Special Rescue Battalion, its sort of a swiss army knife, where we do rescue, decontamination and emergency transportation of mass casualty.
  
  its only useful in the worst case scenario.
  
  but for some reason, all the condemned station personnels with attitude problems are all transferred over to SRB to be platoon sergeants.

  yeah, last resort. i mean think about it, you're a diploma holder, you sign on, you'll forget everything you ever learnt. and signing on is contract based. maybe 2 years, 4 years, 5 years or 10 years. most likely is 4 years, not sure. but lets take it as 4 years.
  
  what are you going to do after 4 years if they refuse to renew your contract? or even better yet, after giving you the golden handshake, what are you going to do? sell satay like what most are doing?
  
  i know attitude problem people get sent to SRB.
  
  my platoon sergeant fought with someone in the station.
  
  another platoon sergeant was always late for work.
  
  they got sent to SRB.
