44—year—old woman hurt in fire at Jurong West Avenue 1
SINGAPORE: A 44—year—old woman was hurt when a fire broke out at a makeshift tent on a field at Jurong West Avenue 1, around 1pm.
It was believed she was resting in the tent and was unaware that the altar had caught fire.
Within three minutes, the fire had spread to a radius of five metres.
The tent was set up for an event organised by a temple, which is expected to end next Wednesday.
The woman suffered third degree burns on her right hand and both legs, and was taken to the Singapore General Hospital.
SCDF said an ambulance, a red rhino and a fire engine were deployed to the scene, and the fire was put out within 11 minutes. —CNA/vm
