Ammonia leak at Jurong Fishery Port; no casualties
SINGAPORE: An ammonia leak was detected at a cold storage at Jurong Fishery Port early Wednesday morning.
Fish mongers at the port first caught the strong smell of the gas at about 4am, and alerted the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
Arriving at the scene, SCDF officers discovered a chemical leak at a cold storage.
About 30 workers, who were sleeping there, had to be evacuated.
The area was declared safe three hours later.
There were no reports of casualties.
The SCDF is investigating the cause of the leak. — CNA/ir
