Alpha 231 Crash (10 June)

Ambulances are pivotal when it comes to saving lives, but this does not mean they do not get into accidents themselves.
Eric, 27, a customer service officer, was startled by a thunderous bang this morning (10 June) at 5.30am at junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Tampines Avenue 1.
A hatchback had crashed into an ambulance that was on its way to Changi Hospital.
The car was turning, while the ambulance was going straight.
Both vehicles were not aware of each other and collided.
The impact of the crash was so large that the ambulance was pushed onto the middle kerb, while the hatchbackÂ’s bonnet was severely damaged.
Eric said he saw that the airbag on the driverÂ’s seat in the car had been activated and the driver was stuck in his seat.
Luckily there was no casualty in the ambulance at the time of the accident, just a few other ambulance personnel, who were unharmed.
According to the police, both drivers sustained minor injuries.
Police told STOMP on Monday that the driver of the car has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The alpha involved in the accident is QX109T, Alpha 231.

Seriously, those caught drink driving should be severly punished as there's lots of cases recently...luckily no one was injured during the time of accident & most importantly no patient was onboard the Alpha at that time of accident

our ambulances and rescue vehicles should be fitted with more audible warnings and perhaps change the way they operate the sirens.

Actually to me, the warnings are more than audible & to some people, they are complaining that its too noisy but I think the control for the sirens can be arranged in a more "reachable" wayOriginally posted by Pitot:driver hit the windscreen right?

but the MB Sprinter 413 CDi (QX4499-QX4950), has a GOOD record of breaking down. Once, i was visiting my encik (from PAB) at SGH. QX4943A brokedown outside the SGH's Bus stop. -

but the MB Sprinter 413 CDi (QX4499-QX4950), has a GOOD record of breaking down. Once, i was visiting my encik (from PAB) at SGH. QX4943A brokedown outside the SGH's Bus stop. -
I'm shocked to see A231 in this state!!!
It's less than a year old for this Alpha....Oh no........ -
There's another alpha being involved in an accident & was featured in the home section of today's ST page H2...suspect to be one of the alphas of Yishun FS

I doubt is drink driving but rather some inconsiderate motorist who didn't signal or just cut into the lane suddenly but then again, I know of some "F1" alpha drivers myself & its obvious why I said gave the nick F1Originally posted by HKFS88:

A van was travelling infront of the ambulance when suddenly the van swerve to the side as a broken down vehicle was park in the middle of the e'way.
The hazard lights and triangle were not displayed or on. Thus the ambulance just crash upon it. -

Well, A221 is based at Changi FS (Stn 22) & almost everything is gd for the lastest type of alphas except is rear height which is very high & the lowering mechanism of the rear suspension for this always spoils very fast therefore we never use it & not forgetting the step that automatically opens when the side door is opened which also fails...Originally posted by surferpunk:damn! i've never been inside the latest alphas (A221). my experience is always with those like A225. cos some of the alphas, when the side door is closed, the step did not retract back.
its dangerous on the roads, esp to motorcyclist.
