  SCDF to set up data centre to enhance capability against terror threats
  
  The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will soon be able to track down where all hazardous materials here are stored.
  
  It is setting up a Security Sensitive Materials Data Centre that will give useful information to front-line rescuers in an emergency.
  
  In the event of irregularities at premises storing hazardous materials, government agencies will also have a database of information to rely on.
  
  This was just one of the few initiatives announced during the SCDF's annual work plan seminar on Tuesday.
  
  As terrorists could employ unconventional forms of chemical and biological attacks, it is imperative to keep one, if not two, steps ahead.
  
  Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng told officers that as they shift more attention to handling extreme crises, their resources would be stretched.
  
  Even the management and deployment of SCDF ambulances would be affected.
  
  Mr Wong said, "These critical resources need to be prioritised for security-related emergencies, and cannot be increased indefinitely. With private ambulances coming in to support the Emergency Ambulance Service, the overall ambulance resources to serve Singaporeans will be coordinated more optimally during non-crisis times and national emergencies."
  
  Using a HAZMAT Control Vehicle armed with radiation detection technology, the SCDF will know what types of radiation a "dirty bomb" is emitting.
  
  The SCDF is constantly upgrading its capabilities and the amphibious vehicle is a good example.
  
  With more Singaporeans taking to water-based activities, it may just might come in handy.
  
  It can accommodate two crew members and has a stretcher at the back.
  
  As Singapore continues developing, three new fire stations and a fire post will be built over the next five years.
  
  These will handle emergencies at Jurong Island, Marina Bay, Tuas and Sentosa.

  then what is Station 15 & 42 for sial?

  The plan for another station in Jurong Island has been up way before i even ORD from JIFS and that has been 3 years ago.
  
  Do you have any idea how big the island is ? Even with a clear highway, the pumper can't reach the end of the island within the response time.
