SCDF questions..

Can anyone in the SCDF tell me more about the life there while in NS? For me, I would like to get ERS. What's the requirement for it? Also, what to bring for the first day? Or will a new letter containing all the details be sent to me when the reporting day is approaching? Anyway, my reporting day is on 9 or 10 April 2007. Anyone going there as well? Hope to make some friends there.

Well, actually IMO serving your NS with SCDF is a much better thing as compared with the SAF as you see, you can apply the thechniques that you've learnt as a recruit as well as when you're being posted to the vocation of your choice (hopefully), you're able to apply what you've learnt in real life.
From what I know, getting into ERS must first got thru an interview and if I'm not wrong, a diploma must be the minimum expectation but now, I do not know as there could be some changes...Not to worry, regarding what you neeed to bring on your first day, a new letter would be mailed to you & just follow all the instructions there & you'll be fine...
First few days, sure nervous for some coz its a whole new environment & you'll surely make some friends in time to come & last but not least, wishing you all the best in your recruit life

Well.. thankz! That i know about SCDF being a better choice than SAF. That's what I've been telling mates about it. Me being the only one in SCDF among all the schoolmates that I know. Lol.. Diploma?? What about A level certs? Is it enough? Well then.. There's still the interview. I hope I can pass through it. Hope to be at least a Seargent and make my NS much more worthwhile with the experience and allowance. Any other guys going into SCDF this April?

Please don't mind me asking - you chinese or malay? Actually what I meant by diploma is the poly one & I think A level certs should be ok as they'll be considered as well. Just be confident when you go for the interview & answer their questions to the best of your ability...
Sad to say that I'm not enlisted this April as I'm enlisted on the 12th Sep 2006 & now I've been posted as an ambulance medic -

Yeap yeap! really?? cool then. but are you in charge of the 7 weeks training or the ERS or both? Cos my friend told me that if you are selected for the ERS, you don't need to go for the 7 weeks training. Sometimes i feel like going there empty handed. lol.. do i really need to bring cert of highest qualification? cos i've yet to receive my cert from my school yet. if i bring, it means my O lvl cert for the moment. Everyone also feels like going empty handed but unfortunately you can't ...yes, you must bring along the cert of your highest qualifications as of now & if you've yet to receive the latest cert, just let them know & not forgetting your bank book & don't forget to return it to your parents before you bid them goodbye on 1oth April...anyway, all the best & I'm sure you'll enjoy your recruit life & if there's any doubts, do post them here & I'll try my very best to help youOriginally posted by surferpunk:10 April. Cannot bring photocopied ones eh? Actually, no need bring anything much right? Just basic toiletries can eh? Like IC, bank book and cert clear already. then the rest all optional. maybe i'll just bring some underwears la. since clothes and towels they will provide one. So many things they provide. Easy life. Can bring photocopied ones but its much safer to bring both, bring along those basic toiletries but bring more underwears as you won't get to book out until Friday evening...I strongly recommend you to bring along your own towel as the towel they provide is damn sucks coz when you use it, your body will get "blue" instantly...CD life can be considered ez but it also depends on which company you're being posted to on the 1st dayOriginally posted by surferpunk:Cannot bring photocopied ones eh? im not a recruit now. I'm already an SCT!! lol... got into ERS. And suddenly, it seems slacker than what i have expected. Seems like the firefighters get more hell than us. as for the towel, it needs a few washes and it's good to be used. And i love the fireman suit. A few days of training in it and suddenly my fitness level went up a few notches. nice. -
how many weeks into your ERS training already? ur 25th ERS if im not wrong?
and yes, the firefighters get alot more hell than ERS -
Just 1 week. Bringing lotsa food to keep in my locker for tml book in. haha.. 23 more weeks to go!! What about you? Where are u at now? CDA or BRTC? And yeah.. me in the 25th ERS.
