From LCP Steve, Fire-fighter, Tampines Fire Station (Stn 23 - Rota 1)
On 27/12/2006, at about 0500hrs when Tampines Fire Station appliances was dispatched by control.
Attending to a fire broke out @ Tampines St 81.
Shop houses were on fire, Fire was well alight.
The appliances that attended to the call are 2 Pumper, 1 Combined Platform Ladder & other supported appliances.
Such as 1 Lighting Tender from Ang Mo Kio Fire Station, 1 Alpha From Tampines Fire Station & 1 Damage Control Tender Changi Fire Station.
PL231[DO] which was the first arrival that arrived at location 5 minutes from the time of dispatched. Followed by the second Pumper which was PL232[NCO]. 1 jet was then set up by the DO crew.
In about 3 minutes later, another 1 jet from being set up to tackle the fire from the front of the store. Breaking in was conducted using 1 x Powersaw, 1 x Rabbit Tool & 1 x Bolt Cutter.
Material containing insense paper was on fire. Fire was then being controlled after 5 - 10 minutes later.
Fire being put out by SCDF using 2 x 38mm Jet. Damping down was conduct and smoke extractor was deployed.
That was a tiring morning for my crew and me from Tampines Fire Station ROTA 1.
