Fire guts factory at Sungei Kadut Way, no casualties reported
Fire gutted a factory warehouse and production area at Sungei Kadut Way on Friday afternoon.
The company, PPG Industries, deals with wood coating.
30 people were working when the fire broke out, but there were no reports of casualties.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force was informed of the fire at about 2.45pm.
Firemen took about half an hour to put out the blaze.
Callers to the MediaCorp News hotline said an explosion was heard by residents nearby.
The SCDF described the fire as a major one.
It said that chemicals were kept on the ground floor of the building.

Singapore's PSI hits a record high of 80 as haze worsens
Singapore's Pollutants Standards Index (PSI) level on Friday hit 80, the highest for the year.
However, the National Environment Agency (NEA) says it is still in the moderate range and not a cause for concern.
To give Singaporeans a better indication of the air quality, the NEA is also releasing an hourly update on the PSI average over a three-hour period to provide an indication of the haze level.
However, the 24-hour PSI at 4pm will remain the most accurate reading of the overall level.
The NEA says it expects the haze to clear by the middle of October following heavy rain in South Sumatra where land and forest fires have been raging for more than ten days.
