April 14 SCDF Enlistment!

hee hee FINALLY received my letter.
just wanna, i've been graded Pes E last time i did medical check up at CMPB so what kind of training can I expect?
Plus the enlistment letter didnt say anything bout my training with regards to my pes grading.
hopefully someone can enlighten me on this

During your 5BE training, they'll train u to become a clerk ! If u fail the course, u'll become a storeman ! -

i'm guessing ur a scdf right? can kindly confirm for me coz i'm not sure what to bring on enlistment day, some say bring stuffs, some say just bring yourself. so i'm not sure who to listen to...my sincerest thanks in advance.
clerk lah, storeman lah...dun care really lah as long easy enough to tide the 2 years over. -
U've got the list they gave right ? follow it ! I'm not sure whether u can bring your cell phone in ! If u can't go buy yourself a starhub phone card cos the q is much shorter ! A clerk/storeman in scdf might not be really slack ! If u get posted to a fire station, u might find yourself doing alot of stuff cos in stations, there's only 1 clerk & 1 storeman ! -

not smoking so shouldn't be a problem...i think handphone is allowed. -

from what i see out of 10 CD pple i see,8-9 are malays.

maybe its how u did that computer test during ure medical checkup....
it may also be due to the SCDF needing people....
its now common to see poly grads going to SCDF...so its nothing new -

what's the BRT like? i heard alot what they do in bmt la. but totally no idea what BRT is like, except for smth like carrying water hose, wear firesuit fight fire in the middle of the night. -

all i gotta say is...being in the scdf is pretty happening....very noble job..every day is a new day....if u want to go elsewhere...sign on lor..but i'm sure u have other plans in the future rite?....no use fretting now....just go out and serve to the best of ure abilities.. -

its not like u have a say in all these things...they send u SCDF....just serve the 2 years arh.....diploma grads can be paramedics(which is pretty happening) Rescue Specialists........Hazmat......DART.....its not really a place for lowly educated people as there are jobs that diploma holders and A level holders can do(like army arh...with drivers...storemen..sergeants...officers)...........so dont think that SCDF is a very screwed up place for a diploma grad to do his NS.....to me..i think the SPF and SCDF are pretty underrated in terms of prestige....but their goals in Singapore are very important... -

It doesn't mean when u get posted into SCDF, means you're not cut our for Army or weaker or dumb !
BRT = Basic Rescue Training.. We don't carry arms in SCDF so what you'll learn during your time in BRT is basic rescue stuff ! Like how to handle a power saw, spreader cutter, basic 1st aid & fire fighting, etc etc.. From there, your officers assess you then recommand you to your future postings !
I've ORDed from SCDF and i'm proud to say that being in SCDF really taught me alot ! -

SCDF is the place to be man...of course, army is all glory holding guns like rambo but seriously, what do they ever do?
go jungle, sleep in foxholes full of mud fighting invisible enemies for two years. thats all. sure you learn discipline (which you'll also learn in SCDF and SPF) but you carry nothing valuable when you ord lah, except some fun memories playing games in the jungle with your army buddies. I've two bros, one SCDF and one army signaller.. Seriously, i listen to them recounting their tales, i've more respect for the firefighter. While the other do endless drill, fighting invisible enemies and preparing for war scenarios that would probably never happened in our lifetimes, the other was dealing with REAL life and death scenarios on a daily basis, saving lifes and properties, tending to the wounded and injured.
No prestigelah but then thats how REAL heros in real life are treated, people dont know one. Let them be lah, later their properties on fire , who they call? Army issit? lol those green guys cant do crap. The men in blue are the real unsung heroes. -

of courselah but they definitely have more real hands on experience than the green guys...who basically have...nil. right? nobody said they are not good at what they do though.
Funny that if they are combat medic, then perhaps they may have a chance to have real experience being sent on peacekeeping missions...but then i think they only send regulars. -

Don't screw me ! I'm offended by everyone's fews on SCDF. Trust me ! After enlisting in SCDF, u'll know how i felt ! Esp on Chinese New Year when your relatives ask you where are u enlisting into !
