Do you think upon course commencement we will be allowed to apply for leave (~2 weeks) for reasons like marriage, pre-booked travel plans? Currently at SA stage and looking at the average waiting time it should be Aug or Sep 2016 to commence training if successful... What if already got pre-booked plans for travel in Oct and planning to get married next year ah?
Really appreciate advise on this, thanks!
You need to inform the manpower officer of your trip beforehand. But most likely, they wont allow you to go on trips after course commerce as you may miss out many important things. If your marriage is after your course, i think should be okay, as you are already deployed.

I just received the email for SA on 4/5/16. Can I know what to expect from the SA?

It will be a mentally exhaustive day. Do have a gd slp the day before. There will be lots of questions that require some form of brain work. The day will end with a superficial body check.
Received email to go for SA on 4 May. Also heard that private degree holders got lower chance of getting offer, is that true?

No. How they reject is unknown. Local University students have also been rejected immediately upon applying online. Since you've managed to even get through to the first stage SA, just keep calm and do your best. Don't worry about the lower chance of getting offer.
Hi guys, my medical was on 6th April, yet to recieve any news.
Anybody else done with medical and waiting for results too?? feeling really jumpy

Hey, I'm not sure if we're same batch, my panel was on 24 March. I'm not working now, but they asked about my previous job so I guess they might call them up? Congrats btw!! When's your intake?

Ah... Since the previous course was C4, I presume your batch is C5? Nah.. just did my panel on 21st April. My medical's slotted at 26th May. So still a long way to go.
Wow.. What's ur current job resignation requirements? 1mth sufficient notice? Hopefully if all goes well we'll see each other in July!
minzzzzz:
they called u up to ask for your previous sup's contact? if it is, then vy high chance u will receive a offer call roughly one week after that call (provided your previous sup replies their email and doesn't screw u up)
Seawulf:
same as minzzzzzz, did anyone called u up or had approached your current/previous supervisor for character references? if yes, please refer to above reply to minzzzzzz(hahaha...i lazy to type so long)
Ongzh1968:
if nothing goes wrong, you might be slotted into the same batch as mine, but hard to say, and i feel quite alone sia, cos my fren is in May batch. my current job is 1 mth notice.
Oh by the way, does anyone remember what they mentioned regarding the working hours for newly-appointed SPO? it's been 3 months back, so just wanna confirm is it shift work for the investigation tour, or both investigation and team leader tour? jsut wanna confirm only :)

It's true that you can't be with your friend. But once you're in the squad... you're bound to make friends and buddies for life in the squad.
First posting for Senior PO: Investigation officer. Working hours are generally: 24hr shift, and 2 off days (For you to clear paperwork etc)
2nd Posting: Team Leader. Working hours are: Morning shift, Night shift and 2 off days.
3rd posting: Staff Posting, office hours
tks Ongzh1968!
IO really siong..off-days to clear paperwork..dunno will hav time for family ma..
Drakian:
Not too sure if they will.. I have no permanent work experience and still have exams :p unless they want to hear from internship supervisors?
Well, it might be awkward for those who haven't told their bosses they are applying for a career switch haha ><
Yup, it is quite awkard. Actually i am starting to get cold feet to be honest. Wonder if there is any active officers that can share what keeps them motivated in the force.

mentally exhaustive day? goodness. how long is the entire process? so at least i can mentally prepare myself.
Drakian:
ehhh it was weird cos they called me on the day of my medical (6 apr) and they asked about my employment status plus previous role in the cpy, that was all. Dno what that means! :(

Morning half will be purely during a lot of MCQ questions followed by lunch then Essay questions followed by body check. Dun belittle the MCQ questions. They are very very tricky and mentally exahustive to understand.
