Yesterday, after i had bought a pack of cigarette i walked past behind my block towards my bus stop. Suddenly, a black plain car stopped by and a man approached me.
He asks if Im a local, so i said yes. I thought he was just a passerby asking for directions around that area. Then he showed me his warrant card, confirmed a police officer. The second man did the same thing. The third guy just looked on.
Then one of them asked me where Im going, i said Im meeting a friend. He checked my bag. My bag only contains the cigarette I bought, my umbrella, my bills and a restaurant vouchers. The other one asked for my IC. I gave it to him, then he talked to someone on the phone, screening me I guess. After that they returned me my IC & they said I can go as they are doing some checks around that area. I asked them if I had done anything wrong. So one of them said no, otherwise I would have been taken away.
This leave me wondering why a plain clothes officers checked on me. I wouldnt be too worried if its a uniformed ones in police patrol car. Im not sure if they thought Im a underage buying cigarettes but Im 30 years old.
This is actually quite common. My friend also kena in the past.
so if they find some gold bar or lots of money in your bag, will they have arrested you as they suspect you stole the money or gold bar?
oh one more thing, they asked for my hp no too. they said in case anything, they can contact me..hmm....
matched a suspect's physical profile. conduct checks. if check personal belongings, means either loan shark case or robbery case. ask for hp number cos if needed, will ask you to down for recognition process (i.e. victim points out the perpetrator).
never watch Crimewatch before??? they laying ambush rah. screen people!
I also ever kena checked before. But in my mind, I dont feel inconvenienced at all. In fact I like it. Because this are the things that help to keep crime low. They are not rude, and once confirmed Okay, they are actually quite courteous.
But dont be an ass, and ask them what operation they doing, why they check this area. Just thank you and walk away.
u should have asked them how to get their miami vice job.
did they wear armani suits and was the black car a lamboughini too?

I think you look like *clears throat* a criminal....
when he flash the card, you have the rights to call his station and check on his serial number. then you allow him to check on you. remember, you have your rights also. you can check on his identity first if he claims its just a routine check, not an arrest or with warrant.

You can call his station to check on him but he may get angry and make life difficult for you say he want to bring you back to station to record a statement
no he should comply, it standard operating procedure. singapore police don;t opertae like the neighbouring country ones. he don;t you can report to his superior, make it big, he also scared no job. singapore police force turnover rtae also very high 1. everytime you go apply as longas meet minium requirement and age, can be accepted in the force and go training first.
