Can make police report if a girl receive sms from an unknown

A female friend of mine receive sms from a guy who 1st claim to be a girl.
He quoted her name in the sms and say he can't remember how he know her but her number is in his phonebook.
When she ask him who is he, he gave a female name.
After sms a few times, she used a pte number to call him and he answered.
She ask him who he is and how he got her number and his motive for saying that he is a female or else she will make a police report.
He say he don't know her so he gave a fake name. He say he can't remember how he got her number in the phonebook and gave his name which she doesn't know whether its a real name.
In the sms the guy never ask for sex or anything so it cannot be classified as a case of outrage of molesty
Can she make a police report on this guy?
If she make a police report, will the police say there is no case?
If the police do take action like find out his real identity etc, what will the police classify this case as?
Harrasement case?

So what do you want the police to do?
The answer to all your question is NO.
Nothing will happen. Nothing.
This is not even a case worth any investigation.
This is a good example of overreacting.

Make a police report anyway.
If the guy is a predator, there would be a report against him.
So, if he try on another girl and succeed in taking advantage of her, there is a record.
Otherwise when he is caught he will say he do one time only, and ask for leniency.

employ a hitman to break all the fingers on both hands so he cant sms for a very long time.:)

The guy did nothing he never disturb your friend and ask for sex ect ... so making a police report will be a wasted of ur friend and the police time .
