Is it okay to get a tattoo when you are a regular? What are the implications?
declare, declare, declare...
if put ang kong, medical checkup will check...
1. Your tattoo is found out and you receive a reprimand.
2. They suspend your promotion and you are forever stuck as a junior officer and your pay freezed at that certain level.
3. They sack you.
4. You wont be allowed to join certain expedition, like the star units, the UN corps, federal marshalls or certain branches of police force, like become a instructor or be allowed in special high profile positions.
5. And they will note in your papers, that next time you wont be allowed into some jobs.
must uphold police image in public eyes...
It's not ok.
If you die die must have a tattoo.
Make sure its not animal and dragon related.
Make sure it can be hidden from view when you wear shirts and its not peeking out anywhere at your collar, arms and if you wear police skirts, do not do the tattoo at the ankles, behind the ears, neck and arms.
okay, i must say that was some pretty fast response.Lol. So all of the above applies even after a few years into the force? Meaning to say that, we're not even supposed to have tattoos at all to have a lasting career in the force?

On the safe side yes.
On the shaky side, tattoo at your own risk.
Its not unheard of, to see regularswith tattoos. But either they are aproved, or there was plenty of declaration and the tatttoos are not religious or gang related.
if u tattooed "i love my parents", the police highly likely to just close 1 eye, n no record.
if u tattooed "brotherhood loyalty", u will kena marked n record in the blackbook.
For heavens sake.
I have eyebrow tattoo. Is that what you asking about?

If its tattooed at the butt. I am sure lots of policeman will not mind spanking the fella.
They are a bunch of noobs who dont appreciate tattoos.
Their mind is dead fixed - only gangster put tatto.
Good people cannot put tattoo meh. Meh meh meh meh?
corporate image in the public eyes...
Lol. Stigma la friend. Can't be helped. Even for me after all this years, i've been wanting to get a tattoo but because of the stigma, i always back out, alot of times, right at the tattoo parlour.. -_-"

So long as it is not an obviously visible tattoo [when wearing uniform, that is, e.g. on your forearm or face], it's okay. This is in line with some internal regulations with regards to police general orders, bearing and conduct.

it is not about mindset. it is more about bearing.
same reason why uniformed people are supposed to be in uniform that is not crumpled. of course good people can put tattoo. it is up to individual choice mah.
but there has to be a compromise with an organization's own internal regulations too.
told u to ditch the army mentality liao...u dun seem to get it. even b4 u get ur Cpl or Sgt rank u already wanna "test water".
You do what you want lah, maybe you just wanna have a short stint in SPF before you go to private sector. All up to you.
Belmont, no offense but what IS the "army mentality"? I'm still confused by your statement. Is there some kind of quotes that you can kindly show me or is it some kind of attitude that reflects "army mentality" that you're talking about?
To me this topic is quite general so i think it's okay to ask, as ASSUMING and Presuming isnt my forte. Having an interest towards tattoos is of personal interest right? So i can't quite relate as to why you would say that i'm trying to "test water". We have regulars here in the forums nonetheless the experienced. Answers given by Forumers like Kitty's,Tiggerific and whosnameididntmention are more favorable.

SPF deals with public extensively. there is this corporate image to uphold. its not only YOU, you misbehave means SPF image tarnished and the public likes to scrutinise POs one.
1 yr in the force or 10, u senior doesn't mean u can flout the rules. We have rank and file officers in the SO, they also never tattoo so thats a very clear cut thing that number of years or rank in service doesn't mean u can do watever u want.
If you in CID or SSB then is a different thing but when in uniform, u do whatever it takes to uphold SPF image.
In short, dun tattoo unless u need to in your course of work. dun look for trouble until trouble looks for u.
Rather tell u harsh words now rather later on u get into trouble and henta kaki at Sgt for many years.
Thanks for your contribution Belmont :) Buddy, you still haven't answer me la. What is the Army Mentality definitive? Need to know what it is before i can shake it off.
