Hi guys, I have just received a sms from SPF today regarding my application for SPO, I was called up for a selection on the 22nd Jan 09 and I have some questions wondering if you guys can help me.
1. What is the selection test about?
2. Except my certs and documents, anything else that I need to bring?
3. What is the average waiting time for selection result?
4. I've heard that there are 2 interviews, so if I pass the first selection, what are the chances for me to pass the second? Because at the same time I have went for a teaching interview and I'm afraid if I pass my teaching interview, I would be asked to sign contract with MOE and which means I wont be able to join the SPF.
5. What is the recruitment ratio of SPO compared to PO? I've heard that the chances of getting recruited are very slim, is it so?
6. As I'm a lady, what is the recruitment ratio of police women compared to policemen? Are women at a disadvantage?

No, women are never a disadvantage if you dont take advantage of the fact that you are a female.
Females are rare and welcome always.
And please, do not assume that police woman has to be tough and manly. Some feminity goes a long way to solve certain problems.

I have been asked to bring a pair of shorts and Tee down for the selection, any idea what is that for?

Hey Anshinkan29, the shorts and tee are for the tattoo check. I went for the selection some time before you. It was a whole day thing for me and they called me after a few days.

ya they are quite thorough in their tattoo check but dun worry u will be doing it in a cubicle. Ya i managed to get pass the first selection. Good luck to your selection on the 22nd. =) Actually i share a few similar concerns as u too..with regards to the recruitment ratio etc.

Oh I see. Thanks alot. As I have screened the whole section of this forum on SPF I found out that the recruitment for SPO is extremely low. dreams_come_tru you are waiting for your panel interview or you have already passed it? You have applied for SPO as well?

Ya, i've applied for SPO too. I've passed the first panel interview but there are a few more rounds of selection. I've been searching the different forums for more info but cant seem to find out much.

Oh you have already pass the panel interview? Congrats! I thought after the panel interview there's only the medical check up left? What are the other selections?

In any organisation, its always better to be bottom heavy then top heavy. Thats why SO selections is low.
Hope you folks do get in, dont treat things too seriously, have fun and its easier.

1) the test will determine how you deal with things in life, attitude, common sense etc etc.... dont worry on how to do it..... just answer what you think its right...
2) certs are the stuff to determind your pay..... so nothing much you can bring on that....
as for 3) to 6)
there is no answer to that..... everthing depands on the situation..... if you are the first one... of cos... interview will be fast? if you are in the middle... then will depands on how those people in front of you perform?
there is no such thing as if pass 1st stage, % of going to second stage.... as long as you cant fulfill the requirement... you can be out.... even if you are already undergoing training... there are no quotas/ratio for SPF..... so still the same ans.... do your best... this is not a job where standard interview questions will have standard answers..... so when you are applying for both MOE and SPF... you have to decide your own future.... which one you will want to be with.....

hi all, i sent in my SPO application in Dec, but still have not received any notifications yet. Im keeping my fingers crossed that, it is because they extended the application deadline, so they are doing consolidation first.
Are there any male applicant in this thread?

I just submitted my application for SPO online today. How long will it take for the sms to come if I am shortlisted? Because I am going Japan next Saturday and I don't want to miss it if I am shortlisted ;(

technology will allow you to circumvent the missing of an sms.
go figure how to do that.

I submitted my application form (hardcopy) on 5th Jan and received the sms to notify me to come for selection on 16th Jan. So i'm guessing it takes around 2-3weeks for them to process your application.

regarding your teaching vs spf, if you get offered by MOE, then you should just tell spf about it and ask them how soon etc.

To hisoka: Hmm if I got accepted by MOE ill start as a contract teacher very soon, just got my notification thru sms for a dialogue session next tues. So maybe I should just tell them frankly that if I were to be selected, I will join after my contract teaching which ends in Jun. =/ Cant afford to turn any job opportunities down now due to the current economy situation, dun wanna stay at hm everyday and feel like a fei ren =( However, being a police woman will always be my true passion.
