yup, bring everything and a photocopy of everything.
they will want to verify your original certs AND keep a photocopy.
How about the working hours for SO? Is it 4 days work 2 days too?
And usually what is the size and gender ratio per intake of SO?
(I can't find any SO thread, hope you guys dun mind that i post some questions regarding SO here.)
SOs work hours varies.
Some may be those 24 hours standby, some are office hour fellas.
And errr......why do you need to know about gender ratio? You looking for a partner there?
Haha no i'm not looking for a partner in there. I want to see if they have a certain ratio when selecting candidates..just to roughly estimate the probability of being selected among the many candidates.
I dont think this is about meeting the quota on certain genders.
You can be selected, but whether you can last or has the right psychometric ability they are looking for is more important then your gender.
pes e can apply or not?
they got discriminate pes e?
why must bring orignal cert sia.
later lost,who pay.
things like birth cert and education certs.
hard to replace.

there is nothing known as ratio/quota in SPF..... if no one met their requirement, they can have lesser intake..... if alot met their requirement, they will have more.....

i cant imagine having a Police Officer who is not physically/mentally fit, on the streets patrolling and upholding the law and order of the society.
With your attitude, i hope that none of the uniformed services would acquire your services.

hard to replace, not impossible to replace.
Think of it as a test... If you might lose some certificates, than it is better not to entrust a gun to you...
This is the link to physical test requirement for guys
Not very useful, but you can add SPF on facebook for whatever reasons...

If I've not served my National Service, can I apply?
Yes, you can. SPF will have to check with Central Manpower Base (CMPB) prior to your appointment for approval to release you from full-time National Service enlistment.
All male Singaporeans/ Singapore Permanent Residents who have not completed full-time national service must serve a minimum term of 5 years (known as Minimum Term of Engagement, MTE) as a regular officer so as to fulfil your full-time National Service obligation.

hello.
was reading the SPO thread and found lots of useful information on the selection assessment + interview process, plus the experiences shared helped alot in knowing what to expect.
i decided to reply here instead of the SPO thread as i recently applied for a PO position. hence it wld be more relevant here.
it was unfortunate that i stumble upon this forum after my selection assessment. nevertheless, i guess it is still not too late to voice several of my queries..
1) i understand that promotion from PO to SPO might take 10-12 years of service. even then, it is still not a certainty. i would like to know my options for career advancement after posting to a npp. aft how many months/years of service wld i have the opportunity to go for courses and what kind of courses wld that be?
and if i were to further my studies part time, say at sim for example.. can it be considered for a rank promotion?
2) also, i would like to eventually serve in CID. any thoughts/advice on how i cld go about getting there assuming i start from doing general police work at the npp?
3) lastly, is there a posting to the spf band after training at HTA or do they have a direct recruitment? what are their criteria and selection process like?
reply to any of the above queries is very much appreciated.. thanks! :)

1) Well, basically courses will be work-related. Either related to your current vocation, or various other modules as a whole. Work-related courses will be rather regular: either the whole team goes, or in other instances, you can volunteer yourself or sometimes get nominated instead.
For non-work-related courses, there are a variety to choose from. Usually, they will be conducted at Civil Service College. There will be a number of courses for you to look through anytime you want to. If there are courses that interest you, you can always apply to take them up.
If you would like to take up further studies at any institution, then do so by all means. There are also a couple of sponsored programmes, but these come with additional bonds. Studies will prove challenging, as it depends not only on your own time management but also your supervisor's understanding [and work constraints].
Having said that though, whenever you take up studies, irrespective of whether or not they are sponsored programmes, you will be made to understand that completion of the programme is not a guarantee of reimbursements, improved career prospects, or an increase in salary.
2) For postings to CID, you will need to start work at any land divisions first. After your stint in frontline policing, you will be required to go serve time in investigations brach, before you can apply for a place in CID. If you have connections, can go faster. But as a general guide, usually people get to go to CID after about ten or more years [without connections].
3) Before you pass out / graduate from your basic training, you will be asked to make your choices known, and they will send you out according to manpower requirements. You can apply to join the SPF band. Not so sure about requirements though. I don't think there is, to be honest.

my pleasure mate. Just helping out with what I can. Good to know that you're feeling more sure with each passing day. Just remember what it is that made you join, because if you get accepted, and if sometime in future you happen to be experience dark days on the job, those values / things will be the ones keeping you holding, and going, on.
Here's wishing you the best of luck. =)
