Hi I'm interested to become a vsc. I've a few questions I hope u all can help me with
1. What assessments and tests would I be required to go through?
2. What sort of training would be carried out for vscs?
3. In the event I am unable to make it for some trainings, is it ok?
4. What are the timings for the trainings?
TIA!
Hi everyone I just sent in my VSC application. Anyone has any idea when I'd be receiving a reply?
Hey, Not sure about the actual timing, but personally, I waited for 2 and a half months for the reply. It shouldn't take more than 3 months, and the actual processing and training will take much longer, which is 6 months for me.
Some of my classmates waited up to a year for the training to start, and so you will need to be patient.
Hey thanks for the reply! I'm going for the interview on monday, cleared the psycho test phew. So what will they ask?

the interview panel from what i know, consist of about 3 senior officers with at least 1 regular officer. they needa know whether u have time for training. the other questions would be about u and ur family. can be quite pressuring when 3 pairs of professional eyes staring at u. vsc is at present in need of manpower. so i don't think its difficult for u to get in, unless they are not convinced due to other factors. good luck!
The interview is very short and simple. Just speak your mind and you will be fine! Good luck!
Hi for the medical which raffles medical are we supposed to go to? Also, for the trainings, ard what time would it usually end? Is it very inconvenient to take public transport to hta? Thanks!
The raffles medical should be the one nearbugis area? don't really remember, but it is definitely near town... You will be briefed by the recruitment officer.
The training should end by 10.30pm, sometimes earlier, but never later... for me anyways...
The public transport to HTA usually involves getting to Choa chu kang MRT and taking a bus from there... How convenient is that depends on where you live bah, haha.
Or you can use the VSC allowance you get to pay for the cab to HTA. $3.60 times 4 hours = $14.40. You get a allowance during training too.
Get to know your fellow batchmates and organise some carpooling if you can. I believe your batchmates will appreciate the effort.
Like having those with cars to help out and pick those w/o trasport at MRT stations to go to HTA. I believe the problems are usually trying to get to HTA on time for your training. Going home, is so much easier.

because singaporeans generally assumes that nothing bad will happen to them, until it happens to them.
I think SCDF have volunteer service groups too, you can apply to join it if you are interested.
Singapore cannot function well without the SCDF and the police force, so your help will definitely be appreciated. :)
Maybe you can visit the SCDF forum too.
I like your reply.
BTW, Volunteering with SCDF is fun too. Learnt lots of stuffs and I really liked my ride at the ambulance. See really heartbreaking and funny medical incidents.
And I still cannot get over the Recruitment Issues few years back where they need Ambulance Driver with 5 'O' Levels?????!!!!
What the heck! I am licenced to drive all classes of vehicles, but to drive a Ambulance I need 5 'O' levels??????!!!!
Why????? So I have the o levels knowledge to make the ambulance fly?
Unfortunately, Singapore is a see paper society. Anyway, I just went for my medical today. Haha. Anyone knows if the next intake is in May or July?

No idea. A lot of people was discouraged by that 9 months training that they may have problem putting enough people for classes.
If i wanna be a volunteer at the police centre just for NYAA can I be one without being VSC?
nyaa? to join vsc you need to serve ns first
ook. pai seh. But is there volunteery work in police 4 poly students? I wan.
there are poly students accepted into vsc. main thing is that if you are a male, have to complete NS first.
if you are female, as long as you are a above 18 years old can apply.
Any idea if I need to go thru the training again if I left VSC in 2004? Anyone?
Its very subjective.
I last remembered that you can skipped the training if you left the force less then 4 years ago. Nows 2008 and they might have changed the time limit.
