is it advisable to sign on for spf?

Hi i am a 17 yrs old , and i receive a letter of notfication from the army to register and i already register it , that letter is only for ppl who are 16 half yrs old , but i alread registered , but i really want to be a regular in spf , and i havent had my medical yet , its on oct , is there any chance that i still can sign on for spf? and is it worth it to sign on for spf?

Guys pls someone tell me , i kinda need to know it fast , and one more qns , do i need any qualification to sign on? right now my highest education is private diploma.

not sure about the entry level rank though. i have a friend who entered with me using a private dip and he's a sgt. -

Advice is an advice the ultimate decision is still yours! You are still young, unless you already intend to go into the workforce else if you'd should study and make those plans to work later on! So make a wise choice and don't come back saying you dislike this and that la and later on making a fool of oneself! =D

actually man, it's not a 5-year contract. if the boy hasn't done his ns yet, then he has to serve a minimum of 5 years before he can resign. once he clears his 5 years, he can choose to stay till he retires, or resign. he'll be free to decide then, after he has completed this period.Originally posted by loonyloony:Advice is an advice the ultimate decision is still yours! I am too thinking of what should i do too! I'm 3rd year in Poly! Not sure what should i do in future as yet!
But i've read SAF's forum saying that after they finish their bond signing they are back to square 1 again so haha really have to consider things carefully before signing the papers!!! =D

i see... i suppose in that way, signing on with the SPF/SCDF is better than going with the SAF. Because you'll be on permanent scheme, which means that if you don't get sacked, then you're allowed to stay with the oranization until you retire. but in the event that you do end up with MHA as a regular, do take time out to take up part-time studies if time permits. it will serve as a 'back-up' of sorts, just in case you'd like to leave the sector one day.Originally posted by loonyloony:Thanks Tigger! =D

in comparison, for regular soldiers, they get paid more than those in SPF and SCDF. but they don't have that 'job security', if you'd like, 'cause they'll be on contract scheme, and their renewal criteria is very, very subjective. but they try to make up for it with better pay and lump sums of cash though.
do take your time to decide what you want to do. I was in 3rd year poly once, and I had no idea with regards to what I wanted to do. but slowly I suppose the path is presenting itself to me. important thing is that whatever you choose to do, make sure that you're doing it for the right reasons. have the right motivation for anything and you're bound to do well in it, regardless of what it may be.
