How is life being a JO...?

Going to camp this 12 June, I'm seriously considering going career... sounds like a stable job, good benefits, good pay, good retirement plan... but my friend say its a boring desk job that is not worth $2100/mth...
So, main question is, how's the job...? Testimonials from JOs... -

if u get posted to be a NPCO.(which is most likely) u will be working shift. it is unlikely for ur first post to be a admin staff unless u wish to sign on as a CSO(Coporate Support Officer). for sergeant without NS, ur pay wun even reach 2k, for sergeant wif NS liability completed, ur pay will be slightly above 2k.
Police is a force for the nation. its not just a job. its a responsibility that u will take up in protecting urself, ur family, ur friends, and ur nation. think twice before taking up this career and do not regret it halfway down the road.
if u feel Police is not the right career for u. u may consider SCDF, SPS, CNB, ICA, ISD or other government agencies job if u are eager to work in a government agency. -
hi...just wondering u said about a sergeant without NS. see im a soon-to-be regular without ns with a poly cert rite...which is a sgt rank i think.
was wondering will my pay forever be less than those who already serve ns? or izit only during the first 2 years of my 5 year bond, after which i'll recieve 2.1k~?
anyone can confirm this?

there are different pay grades for each rank right?

and if you go to specialist vocations, you'll be entitled to skill allowances as well...
though they all receive more money for doing less. Just ask any NPCO around.

sure, sometimes you have to man npp/npc counters and lodge reports, but more often than not you'll be out on the streets lah.
the job's okay; it's just that you have to deal with loads of pressure: from our public, as well as from within.
but all in all, you'll definitely find the job to be an eye-opener. you'll get to see things that most people wouldn't see in their entire lifetimes.
to quote you, and speak in similar terms, if life were a video game, after joining the spf, your experience points will rocket sky high, and you'll be experiencing level upgrades on an almost regular basis.
you might want to hold your horses though. maybe, if you could, try to get into npco course after your 3 months' training, after which you'll be out on the streets. experience the life for yourself, then make your decision. no worries mate, there's no rush at all.
or, after collating enough information and you feel like this is the job for you, go on and apply.

If u already in army and now u apply and got in police, next time when u resign u go back army reservist.
Take my advice....dun sign up now....go study 4 yrs degree at SIM then become SO. -

Since you are posted to SPF for NS, why don't you give i a try perhaps by 6mths time you know what are the pros and cons and by than you have a clear mind on if you want to pursue your career in SPF.
