CNB and SPF is a separate entity, but still under MHA... think carefully before joining... because I don't think switching over to the other is easy... -
erm.. Does CNB officer carries a gun with them after work? What sort of police powers they have? can they arrest someone who robbed someone? Do they learn the same thing as PO during their 6 months of training in the academy? heard their working hours is irregular because may be recalled anytime, are they similiar to the CID?

i dont know abt mayi but, CNB officers do carry their service weapon and have irregular working hours.
It all depends on your department inside CNB, -
I agree with pitot. Whether or not they carry their service revolver depends on their department within the CNB, but if you're a frontliner most definitely you will carry your revolver with you almost all of the time.Originally posted by Kazafhbk:erm.. Their training is actually with police officer/senior police officer trainees, ie either 6 months [cpl/sgt] or 9 months [inspector/asp]. Learn the same thing, with a bit extra thrown in.
Legal powers is different also. Police are empowered to enforce all laws under the sun. CNB's powers is more to misuse of drugs act-related offences. They have a lot of powers relating to the said act. In fact, more than the police.
But of course, if a robbery has taken place, they can detain the perpetrator. But the arresting party and subsequent in-charge case will be the Police.
And yeap, their working hours are irregular, cos you'll never know when they will be conducting operations. They are a very, very, very secretive bunch. But for a good reason lah.
For your last comment, perhaps they are similar to the CID in terms of:
1) no need for uniforms
2) can carry service revolver back [depends on department, though]
3) irregular hours, but only when there is impending major operation.
but then police also like that lah. -

Nope.. no uniform.
To me, their work is more focused when compared to being an NPCO.
Actually wanted to join CNB but decided against working with/against drug addicts for the rest of my life.. so...

hmmm.. so its a bad thing to join cnb? i read somewhere their interviews damn hard to pass..they will shoot back questions and make fun of you.. treat you like a joke.. Not much info abt cnb around..how to score in their interview?

Being solely focused on drug activities is always better than coming back on your off days and performing 'guard duty' when some ministers goes to some events...
As a PO you will have 'wider powers' though...

Like i said, their focus is on drugs. No point blowing their cover over some stupid small kids right ? They're the same as normal POs and have similar powers, try a push or a punch on them and they will wack you, handcuff you and charge you with Assaulting a Public Servant and maybe wack you again after that. -
