Pikachu...seems like the reason why u wanted to join SPF is due to ur own perspective since small about SPF. u dun really seem to know what SPF officers really do in terms of job scope.
Its not about everyday being 2 the crime scene being the big hero and getting a pat from the back from ur superior, then u investigate the case and u solved it.
Its more down to, dispacted to crime scene, preserve crime scene, take down statement, interview witnesses, either peace settlement or u need to write a report. then u need to follow up. if its a big case, u wun be handling it, u will be forwarding it to ur investigating officer. U wun go round carrying ur revolver in ur hand shoot robbers n chase them in ur car as u see in the movies.
ur report can be as thick as ur 1 whole year of essay in secondary school
U may still persue ur thinking that u want to join SPF. but leave a backdoor for yourself. Take a diploma which u r interested in. If 1 day u realise SPF is nt for u, u may still join the private sector. If u still persist in ur thinking, denn u join SPF as a police officer.

As a PO, u may join the 'elite' branches only after ur first posting(which is NPCO), its very rare for JO to get direct entry to CID/ISD/SECCOM etc.

If u intend to do it as a job, after poly den go sign on lo.

hmm. the best way to confirm become a regular SO is luck. really just luck. first, you either serve your BMT/BPT/BRT in any one of the three forces, and if u are damned lucky, you are posted to become a Police OCT. finish up your NS, then get a degree within 5 years (3 years the safest) and sign on as an SO. they will retain your last held NS rank (which would be Insp (NS)
all is by luck one right? hahaha. cos the number of SO intake per year is dependant on the number of SO resignations in the previous year. where're you based at?
and if you get a good honours degree, can direct entry ASP mah. bypass insp totally. but getting into SO training is the tricky part.
for JOs, sad to say it's almost impossible though. Need to have invest. background and even if you're very good, need to pass the AI interview, which is held at SPF level. SO many nominees from all the diff divs, but usu only a handful get picked. Sometimes, even none at all.

dun be surprised to 'join the SPF and suddenly find your sleeping hours screwed up, and trying effortlessly to pass time every time you're not out on duty'.

if for some reason they don't post you to a desk job but ask you to leave, with your degree you still can find a job outside. no worries. -

well, this IS indeed Singapore, the reality is any potential employer will look at your paper qualifications first. -

hiz..i applied for police 1 mth and 3 weeks ago..still haven even recieve the 1st interview letter..does it mean im not even shortlisted? i applied 4 times during that period le and they ignore me..sianz,its my childhood ambition to be a police officer..i was was rejected 2 years ago after the 1st interview..now serving ns but going to ord in june..how come now they dont even bother to send me the 1st interview letter..very depress and bitter now

i emailed them and they replied that my application was not successful. Damn!why??? this time round,i wasn't even selected for the assessment selection. how come 2 years ago i'm shortlisted and this time round i'm not even short listed? damn sian.. guess they don't really need ppl with REAL passion for the job.

its nt about your passion. Maybe they have a reason to reject you 2 years ago. Move on to a new job. if u wish 2 be a civil servant that much, u may wish to persue a career in CNB or SPS or ISD or ICA.

I'm only interested in pursueing a career in the police force,infact thats my dream and goal in life..its all shattered now..perhaps i should apply for CNB. but im not so sure on their jobscope. heard that its a dagerous job with lotsa commitment needed. Can anyone tell me more on CNB? I know they are non-uniformed,carries a different gun,train at home team academy with PO during the 1st six months. What police powers they have?

ISD is part of SPF I think, so if you cant get into SPF, then you surely cannot get into ISD.
