If I've not served my National Service, can I apply?
A.
Yes, you can. SPF will have to check with Central Manpower Base (CMPB) prior to your appointment for approval to release you from full-time National Service enlistment.
All male Singaporeans/ Singapore Permanent Residents who have not completed full-time national service must serve a minimum term of 5 years (known as Minimum Term of Engagement, MTE) as a regular officer so as to fulfil your full-time National Service obligation.

months Basic Military Training (BMT), am I eligible to apply?
A.
Yes, you may. However, you have to submit your application early (preferably at least 2 months prior to your completion of BMT).
This is to facilitate the arrangement for your interview before your BMT completion and vocational unit posting.

Q.
What if I resign from the Singapore Police Force during the 6-month training at the Police Academy?
A.
If you resign during the 6-month Basic Training at the Police Academy, you are liable to pay one month's salary in lieu of notice period as well as the cost of training (pro-rated).
If you resign during the two-year bond period (after your 6 months of training), you are required to pay back for the amount you are bonded for (at a pro-rated sum).
and the resign fees is how much? pro rated how much? didnt state from how much til how much there...

Oh, if ur thinking of signing on den resign so u wont serve 5 years or transfer from BMT den resign so u wont serve 2 years, I'm sorry, it dosent work this way.

i know it will suffer and after looking into more detail, i feel that the 5 years a quite long and i dont know i can endure though out or not...
i am confuse what spf is about and about the course...

i scard that the 5 years is too long for me to endure and i wanna quit so... if really 5 years then i think i will just serve the normal NS bah...

There are 2 intakes for Police Officers in SPF
NS Police(You are shortlisted frm Mindef)
-Basic Police Training 3 months
- Depending on vocation, 3 months vocation training
- Total Time 2 years.
- U are unable to resign as u r serving ur National Service
FullTime Police(Regular Policeman)
- Basic Police Training 6 months(Junior), 9 months(Senior Officer)
- With NS, u need to serve 2 years.
-Without NS, u need to serve 5 years.
- If u resign b4 the designated time, u need to pay a fee.

just a honest comment .. i was a pns .. & i ask all my regular friend before .. whether they regret signing to the force .. most of them say they regretted ... if u dont have the passion to be a policeman ... dont do it .. cause policeman is unlike what you see on TV... it consist mostly on\f shit job (sai kang) .. if you wanna lead a gd life .. at least sign on as a senior officer..

as a NSF....i have my fair share of friends who r in the SPF. There will certainly be people who are unsatisfied with the job, but there are also people who love the job deeply. Its all down to your own interest and perception of individual matters which will then decide whether u r suitable for the job. Do not take up any job just becoz u wan to have money at de end of the month, but take up the job becoz u will benefit u urself frm the job scope itself. there are people who are 16+ in SPF.

1 - i haven go NS, i can complete NS and the police training in the 5 years, then become police officer liao right?
2 - i complete NS and my poliy with diploma le, i just need to take up the 6 month training, and 9 year of what? i thought is the bonding thingy which last for 2 years?
3 - going NS first then take the police course is better as, NS 2 years, police course 6month+2years and can change my idea after NS right?
and total only last for 4 1/2 year which is lesser then the whole course right?
4 - then is go to the course is 5 years, then parts by part(ns then course) is 4 1/2 year which is lesser and part by part can change my mind after NS so going the part by part is better lah?
5 - alot of people regreted it? erm can share why or how they regreted? or what they did during and after being a PO?
6 - can normal officer promote to senior officer? or need degree then can?

i am planing for my future now cus having what course in poly would mean what future, job...
ya and til now i dunno what course i want to take in the poly...

1) The Basic trainig takes place at the first 6 months of ur 5 years. U will then graduate as a fully pledged police officer. u will then spend 4 1/2 year of ur Bond in serving the society. For people who want 2 join Police but haven started their NS
2) Boy...READ CAN? its 9 months not 9 year. There are different training for Junior n Senior officer. Junior officer 6 months, Senior 9 months. If u have completed ur NS, and wish to join police, its only 2 years.
3) Sry, ur thinking too naive. 5 years, take it or leave it.
4). 5 years, take it or leave it. dUN EVER think it is 2 1/2year + 2 1/2 year. it is NOT. its a 5 year package
5) alot regret, alot love the job. see who u ask.
6) min req for SO is degree. u may promote frm JO to SO if u havee degree, but slim chances.

2) You will join as a Junior Officer, not Senior. Senior Officers will require 9 months of training, not 9 years. Bond as per usual.
3 and 4) Eh... thinking wrong liao. Think go NS better, then reservist every year. I don't want this type of officers...
6) Senior Officer don't know, but ranks up to SI, I know. -

for those 16+ in SPF..aren't they only VCs?
One needs to be 18 and above to join. It's not like the Army can sign on at 16. My poly friend asked about it, the officer says no. Either you finish your studies then sign on, or you can choose to quit, but you still have to wait till you are 18 then can sign on.
17++ (nearing 18 ) can sign on, but they put you on the waiting list. -
u can be posted to SPF for NS even if you are below 18. depending on your educational qualifications and certain criteria you will be posted to VC or SC.
I had a friend, 19 years old , Nitec, but still posted to VC. -

Now you haven finish o level yet, study hard n finish poly first den decide if u still want to sign on. still early.. very early.. -
17+ u cann sign on...once u 17 1/2old...they will let u go training..thats wad i heard frm FI..u need to be 18 once u graudate....under 18 does nt mean VC hor...
VC is determined by educational level..nt by age...
