  anyone knows what is a good length and quality of rope/string to tie up a suspect after pinning him down? would 1m be adaquate?

  If you have to ask about holding down a suspect with a rope....you are sorely underqualified to hold down a suspect.
  
  why dont you go pick up some defensive training courses first before you consider a rope.
  
  Cos....I dont really see how any rope can materialise at the instant you manage to hold down a suspect before roping him.

  use an improvised cable tie.Easy to make..

  its hard to explain, but i have done it before.YOu need 4 cable ties.
