no use.. people will still create new hacks.. anyway.. i am more concerned about ppl hacking into ppls acc and own the acc and make it to earn money.. like using keylogger to get the password or what..Originally posted by MohamedF:Don't think they need police to handle case... coz once got report, the MMORPG company would add another firewall... problem solved...
100% illegal.Originally posted by d0ud0u:no use.. people will still create new hacks.. anyway.. i am more concerned about ppl hacking into ppls acc and own the acc and make it to earn money.. like using keylogger to get the password or what..
imo, the police will brush the case aside unless it becomes an international highlight.Originally posted by d0ud0u:then can police take action on them? will they be charged in court if caught? what if they are just kids?
Adding firewall doesn't solve problems, it only provides another layer of security. If you don't configure it correctly, the attackers can still get in.Originally posted by MohamedF:Don't think they need police to handle case... coz once got report, the MMORPG company would add another firewall... problem solved...
They can be charged, if the damage caused is great enough.Originally posted by d0ud0u:then can police take action on them? will they be charged in court if caught? what if they are just kids?
Yea.. i understands.. the victims wont be able to find out who did it.. but at least they know who in the game hacked their account, and so they had to leave the rest about tracking IP address all this to the police.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:While illegal, I'm pretty sure the police won't take any actions, unless somebody can prove that one person or a gang is behind it. If you can also prove that your items worth lots of money, they might consider it a case.
However, if you use illegal ways to trace the person or gang, you might face charges as well. Especially if you use backdoor trojans, keyloggers or any other ways which compromises a user's computer.
That will be hacking and you may be charged under Computer Misuse Act, even though you don't mean it.
The best way would be to show proof, either by contacting the administrator of the game server and forwarding the mail to the police. It is no guarantee that they will help though...
In any cases, the best is to reformat your computer since your security has been compromised.
If the whole lot of them decides to take action, then the police will take action. I heard of action groups which does this, and they pass such info over to the police.Originally posted by d0ud0u:Yea.. i understands.. the victims wont be able to find out who did it.. but at least they know who in the game hacked their account, and so they had to leave the rest about tracking IP address all this to the police.
If 1 by 1 victims the cost may not be much.. but if theres is alot of victims, example 1 victim can let the hacker earn $100.. then if the hacker can hack into 100+ acc, he/she can earn $10000 easily already.. so unfair.. haha.. $10000 is alot! should police look into the case.. a person got theft $1000 worth of items, news also got report le.. why game hackers this kinda things i didnt even heard bits of it.. lol
Wah! 3k lehz.. Still didnt get charged? then that guy got this $3000? the police got right to confiscate that amount? or did that guy need to compensate the victim?Originally posted by hondapons:There was a case :-
