I heard that when one's application for SPF is being rejected there is no point in applying again as they will have a record and will automatically disqualify the person. Is this true? Many thanks

Not really.
It depends on the vacancies.
Until you actually attended the interview and took a 3 hour written test and failed that test. Then you can forget about applying for the SPF for the next 5 years. -

From a human resource management view of point.
Your friend was not recruited at the final interview due to a lot of reasons.
He still has chance, but in order to better his chances. He need to maybe work on his interview techniques or accquire some more skills that would make him attractive a candidate to keep.
Your friend should consider better qualifications, job experiences in other fields or acquired more skills before he re-try at the SPF.
I always encourage able men & women who dont make it into the SPF regulars to join the VSC to get some taste of what police work is about while they are upgrading themselves.
It might help to give them a better understanding of police work and the necessary skills required if they really decide to apply again to become full fledge officers. -

it used to be: 100 police officers needed. Only 1 applied.
Now its 1 position available, 100 application. And its rampant throughout all civil agencies.
Just prior to SARS hit, Singapore suddenly has a influx of young teachers, most of them degree holders already.
Then the CNBs, SPF & major government agencies was snowed under by the folks suddenly all applying to be civil servants.
We can expect that in 2 years time, when those kids born in the year 1988 Dragon be all let out from schools and fighting for jobs. -
I have spoken to him and we agree that it may be due to his lack of experience in interviews. Therefore it is alright to apply again for him as there is no such thing as a record where one who failed before will be 'blacklisted'? then again, what makes you think that interview for VSC is so much different from a normal PO interview? since both are policeman?

mMhz.. what about my case? I from april 2006 started to apply for regular.. till now still no receive any letters.. in between, i have submitted around 5 application.. and 2 weeks ago.. i applied for VSC on 24th sep immediately after my birthday.. still got hope?

Junior officers with less then diploma levels dont goes into the Regular Police Force after joining VSC.
Its a 'We love police work, but cannot tahan that kinda pay' mentality. -

just turn 18 last sep 24.. haiz.. i just want to get in to VSC first.. then continue with a dip course.. then join in as regular in spf.. at least get a taste in vsc first so that i wont regret when i join spf and cause inconvenience.. but they dont wanna give me any chance.. not even calling me up for interview..

Which division do you intend to go after graduating? -
If you really want to know how the job suit, go join the Volunteer Special Constabulary. From there, uou will know how it functions.
Enjoy your duties as a VSC 1st. It's interesting as you do not have too much responsibilities as the Regulars do.
Choose the division you like, preferably at the next town, not too near your house. (trust me)
At the meantime, go study.....get your diploma....then switch to be a Regular.
Dun worry, every quarter of the year, they invite VSCs to join the Regular team.
Once with Diploma, u'll get your Sgt rank..
Once with Degree, u'll should get your Insp rank..

Hehe.. Thanks for your warm welcome. it will be better to welcome me if i really got into VSC. ^.^ actually no any division prefered. possibly if i get in i will be posted to NPC right? Do i have the right to choose? or they decide? If i can choose, i hope to be posted to West area since i am living in the west. But why do you say that its not good to be posted to the area near my house?
