I probably didn't do well enough to enter local Uni so i intend to take a part-time degree course @ SIM after NS while I work to finance my studies.
I just came up with the idea of joining the police. Is it true that there is a minimum bond of 5 years for ppl serving NS? If so, i was thinking of the direct-sergeant entry and serving for 5 years while studying for my degree part-time.
Joining the force has long been my ambition but my original plan was to apply for inspector after i get my degree. Is it possible to "upgrade" to a senior police officer after i attain my degree?
I feel that it's a win-win situation since i won't have to waste 2 years of NS and instead embark earlier on my goal of a police career, plus a stable income to finance my studies. It's better than my original plan that will also take 5 years.
Any policemen/anyone has advice to offer and perhaps evaluate if my idea is wise?
my only advice for you is,
Join a career with interest, or else you will find yourself struggling in a career that you might hate in the end....
Singapore Police Force does encourage fella officers to upgrade themselves, it benefits both the organization and officer himself....
so at the end of the day, its more on : is SPF a place you have strong interest in? or its just because of escaping NS? or even because its civil services(for more secured job)? etc
it matters alot as one mindset will determined their contribution and commitment to their own career..
