ya, it's recognized by singapore's civil service(went over the police recruitment website link), part of Association of Commonwealth Universities.Originally posted by thoreldan:spf recognize private degree meh?
otherwise with 3 O's , they wont even take you in
3 GCE O Levels, no chance lah. You need 5 O Levels and a degree. Overseas degree need to be recognized by SPF. Since you have checked that and it is recognized, no problem. But 3 GCE O Levels won't help you.Originally posted by Michaeled:Hey guys.
ok, if lets say i'm 17, have 3 GCE O level points, and I'm currently taking a private degree course awarded by an austrailian university, I can still defer my NS right?
also, when is the best time should I apply to join SPF, right after i get my degree, before NS or BMT, during/after NS or BMT?

never heard ofOriginally posted by ah_cleo:den are there any schemes now like i study poly den they sonspor me den after tat i work for them? like in the army
Originally posted by Michaeled:I know that a poly diploma holder can go for a direct-entry sergeant scheme. But can an external recognised diploma be used too? It is recognised and i have a diploma in law, and so, it is relevant too. anyone knows?
Also, i keep hearing that it's better for me to complete my degree course before i join the force, so i can get entry as senior officer, rather than working my way up. i'm NS bound and i've been torn between doing the "regular" army ns for 2 yrs, and signing up for the force and be a junior officer for 5 yr bond.
which wld be a better "career path"? Any senior officers that's ex-junior could help me out?
Originally posted by Archtomato:The 5yrs regular service in the force as opposed ot the normal 2yrs NS could be tempting because of the money. But my advice to you is think about time. At this age, time and how to maximise it should be the concern.Do you want to do your Uni? or are your going to stop with a diploma for now?
Doing normal NS in the army and joining the force afterwards is not a bad thing as you will learn things in one organisation that you would not in another.
Whether you want to be a SO or a JO is actually depends on the work you would like the force (if u put money aside).
My advice is do Normal NS first. It will wash a persons view of rank and prestige and instead instill a more matured picture of what u are really out to acheive.
