This man is the second in the history of VSC to die on duty...the first being killed during the Hock Lee Bus Riots donkey years ago. There is therefore little precedent to follow, although at the same time, it may allow for exceptions to be made.
Lets hope his contributions and sacrifice will be duly recognised by the state.

Whatever the case, this accident instantly reminded me of an incident only about a week ago. While manning a routine road block, a huge truck rumbled on at high speed with no signs of stopping or filtering to the left lane towards us. I was standing in the middle of the road with nothing between me and the on-coming truck except for the tiny blinkers on the road.
My regular partner screamed for me to scram to one side of the road while he jumped to the other side, then yelled for our other two officers to get out of the patrol cars in the path of the truck. I will remember the scene of the truck suddenly screaching to a halt inches away from the blinkers, smoking burned rubber tires and all for quite some time.
Turned out the driver fell asleep and woke up only at the last moment on seeing the blinkers on the patrol cars. Cant imagine whats gonna happen if he continued sleeping...[/b]

sometimes even if you have yellow vest etc, but the driver tired or bo chap still will knock onto you.Originally posted by viciouskitty74:Certain protection gears, if you are really so concern for your own safety and protection. You can buy from the Army Market. aka beach Road hawker centre.
If you do intend to perform more night duties. It wouldnt hurt for you to buy some stuffs there then what makes you look smarter in uniform.
1) Yellow Vest, they now even have reflective vest strips that are much more cooling for officers to wear for the whole night.
2) Sturdy boots
3) leatherman tools
4) torchlights
5) light sticks, illuminating wands &
6) disposable air horns
