I know that it's not nice to describe someone a guard dog.Originally posted by viciouskitty74:I do know I was talking about a guard dog.
Do you know this guard dog who rather has his own troop take the image of cowards then to come up front and proudly proclaims who and what he is?
actually road block got SOP one...but now i say oso Ma Hou Pao cos its done and done with liao...Originally posted by M©+square:Ya...
But what happened?
How come road black set up kanna this accident?
I do hope there is. The problem is VSCs dont contribute to the police welfare fund, and hence are theratically not entitled to all those pomp and ceremony usually accorded to other officers. At least this is what my peers in my div told me. I hope this arent true.Originally posted by Pitot:Will there be any special wake service for the officer?
There does appear to be a general lack of compliance with the relevant SOP, although I suppose these high profile accidents will hopefully lead to sustained enforcement of these regulations. It was only a few months ago that I was told reflective vests are compulsory when doing roadblocks in my NPC, for example.Originally posted by chunyong:actually road block got SOP one...but now i say oso Ma Hou Pao cos its done and done with liao...
always place the road block sign at a distance where the driver can see from a distance and how, where u stand also matters...dun let ur guard down until the vehicle is stationary cos wait he kee tao hong step Gas then cham...always wear the reflective gloves and wave wave...cos if u dun wave...the driver maynot be able to see the reflected light...a moving thing always catches more attention...and the uniform camoflage cos the road is black and sky is dark...blinkers oso play a part.....using torch to 'pa signal' by on-off-on-off oso can.....
this is all basic knowledge, come across roadblock sure can notice so i not revealing anything covered under OSA.
roadblock very dangerous one....dun play play dats y be mada very dangerous, anytime ur life can be taken away...no rehearsal one...no 2nd chance no retry no repeat.....
car boot should have the vest and gloves....on-off torchlight to pa signal oso a must if u treasure ur life...Originally posted by huaiwei:There does appear to be a general lack of compliance with the relevant SOP, although I suppose these high profile accidents will hopefully lead to sustained enforcement of these regulations. Whatever the case, this accident instantly reminded me of an incident only about a week ago. While manning a routine road block, a huge truck rumbled on at high speed with no signs of stopping or filtering to the left lane towards us. I was standing in the middle of the road with nothing between me and the on-coming truck except for the tiny blinkers on the road.
My regular partner screamed for me to scram to one side of the road while he jumped to the other side, then yelled for our other two officers to get out of the patrol cars in the path of the truck. I will remember the scene of the truck suddenly screaching to a halt inches away from the blinkers, smoking burned rubber tires and all for quite some time.
Turned out the driver fell asleep and woke up only at the last moment on seeing the blinkers on the patrol cars. Cant imagine whats gonna happen if he continued sleeping...
Agreed. Complacency is our biggest enermy here.Originally posted by chunyong:car boot should have the vest and gloves....on-off torchlight to pa signal oso a must if u treasure ur life...
want to be a cop who follow SOP is hard...but some stuff u cannot neglect, especially when it matters ur life and ur partner's.
dun quote me hor and i think all the NPCOs using torch to pa signal...its unofficial SOP lah..Originally posted by Pitot:Any self remedy to the SOP u all have? Like for example using ur flashlight like what Chunyong said.
flee lor...only way outOriginally posted by Pitot:wah.. den nothing to physically stop the vehicle from coming towards you.. damn dangerous.. unless they install those impact cushions on the back of the van like those on the back of those big vehicle wan..
Again. If you do not know anything. Kindly do not assume and post out here for others to laugh at.Originally posted by huaiwei:I do hope there is. This man is the second in the history of VSC to die on duty...the first being killed during the Hock Lee Bus Riots donkey years ago. There is therefore little precedent to follow, although at the same time, it may allow for exceptions to be made.
Lets hope his contributions and sacrifice will be duly recognised by the state.
Yes.Originally posted by Pitot:Will there be any special wake service for the officer?
It was.Originally posted by huaiwei:..........., I do hope deep down inside that the driver is completely at fault!

Are you privy to the PM I had received from the young men here or you just telling me how much you assumed?Originally posted by huaiwei:I came to this forum and saw that this page had four pages of replies. Was initially heartened, until I read the contents.
This is no different from strangers picking fights with each other over someone else's coffin. How very "mature" and "well brought up" indeed, and I am all the more saddened for the deceased.
vicious, if you believe that VSCs contribute more to national security than specific groups here, then I would certainly love to see you contributing less to this forum and more constructively to society. The level of hypocrisy here is astounding. I wonder how someone could sing praises of an organisation, yet back stab it at the same time without feeling a tinge of remorse.
Reading comments made above by a fellow VSC member gives me great embarrasement. No wonder VSCs are still having problems intergrating into the force, even if it dates back 60 years, or is part of the Home Team. Nice words...on paper only apparantly. In practise its an entirely different world altogether.
And yes, if I do have a problem, I would probably call that number you sent to me via PM. But what problem would I have to call you? Tell you to at least behave your age, know the value of humbleness and humility, and give due respect to your peers as much as you wish others to give them to you? Stop assuming that respects comes just by telling others you have touched every weapon on the planet, and has white hair long before others are still swimming in liquid?
Serious...so what? Do others care?
So, I dont care who you are, and I dont care who I am either, but please give due respect to this man and would all please quit polluting this thread with this kind of gabbage. Enough is enough.
It would seem, that air horns will be useful.Originally posted by Pitot:Any self remedy to the SOP u all have? Like for example using ur flashlight like what Chunyong said.
Did you or the regulars reported the incident and fight for better facilities to be used that could have prevented the recent event where a VSC died.Originally posted by huaiwei:Whatever the case, this accident instantly reminded me of an incident only about a week ago. so next time u see a PO, remember he is risking his life to make sure u dun have to.
It is never worth the risk of some residents good night sleep to the lives and injuries of any officer on the ground???Originally posted by chunyong:imagine 2am roadblock....then u see those residents will lodge a complain to the CO anot.... sometimes really bo bian one lah....its a risk POs have to take....
