I took mine with PAC 10 years ago.
Those days, it was only $80/- for the course and $50 for membership to PAC.
Whats the cost nowadays argh? -
Does VSC PCG officers get to go for this course for free? Hehe...

Nope.
VSC PCG officers will need to go thru the Maritime Policing Course.
The PPL has to pay. -

The Maritime Policing Course is for you to be proficient with a boat & the sea.
Does not mean you are automatically qualified to pilot the police boat.
For that, you have to acquire a certain number of seatime and attend/pass the Steersman's course.
For Power Pleasure Craft Licence, you can pilot as the licence name suggest. -

In fact, I put down PCG as my first choice for division posting. Actually I don't know much about PCG, only that they go for 12hr patrol at sea. Haha...
I heard from some of my mates that they only start a class when there are enough people. You know anything about that? I was wondering if I do get posted there, what will I be doing if the class have not started yet. -
Well, even if you have not attended the MPC. You can still go out for patrol, except that you have to be extra careful and try to pick up as much as you can. Like all divisions POs, you pick up the skills and procedure via 'on the job training' of sorts.
Oh.....and the 12 hour means the actual shift hours. My time, we usually can stretch easily into 14 hours. So always bring lots of foods to share and lots of chit chat topics. -
If I'm not wrong the minimum age for Powered Pleasure Craft Licence is 16?
I'm a member od PA sports club..I think they offer this course too.. -

I suppose most VSC will be doing weekend duties only... -
14hrs normal lah. During my time there, the steersmen had to report in maybe 0700hrs to prepare the boats and maybe report off around 2200hrs depending on your patrol sector. But then again you get the next day off till night shift. There after, from the next morning, you get two days off. Man, really enjoyed my time there, the team sgt had to force us to clear leave every year.
