SINGAPORE: 22-year-old Took Leng How went on a drinking binge following the death of 8-year-old Huang Na.
He said he was troubled and confused, and also admitted visiting prostitutes in Geylang.
Took's statements, which were read out in court on Thursday revealed, in detail, how Huang Na was killed in an alleged game of hide-and-seek that went horribly wrong.
Took said he had hit the little girl on the back of her neck with his hand before strangling her.
When she hiccupped, Took became frightened, so he stomped on her neck 3 times with his foot.
He also admitted removing her clothes and molesting her.
On October 21 last year, Took had given police officers the slip and fled for Penang where he later surrendered to the Malaysian police.
If found guilty, Took faces the death penalty.
When Took was confronted by his family members and scolded by his mother for running away from Singapore, Took insisted he was innocent.
In fact he claimed he was ill-treated by the police, who threatened to subject him to electric shock if he refused to tell the truth. - CNA /dt -

Took Leng How contradicted himself when he said he strangled Huang Na to death but did not caused her death...
Cannot believe his words. It's makes more sense to me that he was actually trying to molest Huang Na in the storeroom rather than playing hide-and-seek (in the dark?!) -
If it was proven that he was forced to plead gulty by the police, the case will be thrown out by the courts without question. I'm wondering if by "electric shock" he's referring to the polygraph test. I'm not sure how it works but I think heart rate is measured, some kind of device.

So as long as the procedure is not right, the judge have the rights to discard the statement recorded by the criminal....
of course, these stories are usually made up... well, can be added as an extra charge if he is not telling the truth in court...
