i think captain can be any rank, as long he/she incharge of some squads, regardless of rank or anything...

there is no Captain in the Singapore Police Force. the equivalent of Captain would be Inspector.

ASP rank is a single coat of arms, which is the same as military Major.
the Junior Commissioned officer ranks in the military use bars. by right, the equivalent for Inspector should be Lieutenant in the military, because both bear two bars/pips. but since the Police Force does not have 1 pip (Cadet Insp, NPCC) or 3 pip (Chief Insp, Gurkha only), the equivalent for all Junior Commissioned Officer ranks in the army in the police is Inspector of Police.

I just saw the Director of Prisons today, DC Chia Chin Kiat, being chauffered in a QX plated white volvo (the kind used by SecCom) with a uniformed police chauffer.
What amazed me was that he wore the rank of the Commisioner of Police, the state crest, 1 diamond pip, and the crossed batons.. whew!
