Police have exchanges with Singapore, UK
Three senior Hong Kong Police officers were attached to the Singapore Police Force and London's Metropolitan Police Services under a Staff Exchange Training Attachment, laying a milestone for the partnership of the three forces in staff development.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Chan Wai-ki said officers on exchange may bring about cross-fertilisation of ideas and experiences and help foster a better working relationship over a cross-section of policing areas of mutual concern.
"For individual officers, the programme will definitely enrich and broaden their international exposure, whereas our force will strengthen the connection with the two partners," Mr Chan added.
Being attached to the two forces between February and April, Superintendent Dominique Ziemann, Woman Superintendent Jocelyn Cheung and Chief Inspector Paul Cheng said the attachment enabled them to explore the two forces' approach to community policing, their rationale, process and implementation.
To further enhance management development for officers, the PoliceTraining Wing has made similar attachment arrangements with the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau Department and Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau.
