Help needed!

i am currently serving ns i have 1yr plus to go. my dream career in life is to be a SPO as that has always been my childhood dream. i am a phd (poly halfway dropout) so my highest education level is Os with 6 credits. i will be going overseas to study foundation after my ns and get a degree at an overseas uni. is it really very hard now to get into SPO and what kind of degree wld be better in getting into the SPO "C" course. my other qns is will my chances be higher if i sign up as a JPO first so my chances mite be higher for SPO selection as i will have more exp? pls clarify my doubts if possible.. thanks!!

Hmm....you may want to get a recogonised degree. But for selection its not easy as if you dont have proper dip. If you apply as a PO you need alot of experience before for selection to be upgraded to SO. Well it definately be a few years... for sure. But by than you will only be an inspector and it takes a while to get an ASP.

then when you are back in Singapore then think of what you want to do?
you dont try to fly when you just experiance to walk ya?
take one step at a time my brother.... i can only tell you for a JO to be a SO, it will need to take up at least about 5 years and this is the fastest.... usually it will take at around 10 years for one to qualify for interview to become SO from JO... -
Totally agreed with the statement. Focus on your studies now and get some fantastic grades. Preferably a First Class Hons in Engrg, Sci, Law, Med, etc. Check with PSD for recognised degrees as well.Originally posted by qazplm:Perhaps, you might want to consider focusing on your NS now...

It is not easy to be put up for SO conversion from JO cos it takes time. Fundamentally, how long are you willing to wait for this opportunity as it may never happens in the entire career in SPF. You will need to put up as Acting Inspector (AI) and subsequently been selected to attend the "C" course to move on as Probationary Inspector (PI) .. and eventually be confirmed as Inspector ... and graded as Inspector of Police (I).
Go get a First Class Hons and be a ASP.
