checking of IC

i was thinking. why is it that when ppl complain abt ppl playing bball late into the night, or someone reports someone alone in the car engine idling (appearing suspicious) then police comes in and checks IC? only for situations where they arent taken away.
even if they are taken away, why check the iC ? i mean i dunno why the check, not questioning the need for the procedure. -
This is a good question. Well if you play bb so late others need their rest dude. Lets not talk about procedure or what soever.
For instance if a group of guys playing bb but they have got the intention to rob this man who always going back late in the wee hours. So what will you do if you're that man.
I always think that if i have not done any crime nor guilty. Whats wrong with showing the Identity card?

Imagine a group of A-hole playing soccer at your void deck.
Police nv check their IC and ask them to go off.
Later a resident informed thenextday that his young 'gong gong' son was robberd by a group of A-hole of his wallet, handphone & soccer ball at the void deck.
YOu know who to find? Dats group lor..dat group is who? -
if the polices are checking a group of teenagers around age of 14 15....and their ezlink cards are covered by neoprints...will police officers ask them to remove the neoprints?

checking IC can know u got made any offence before or not. and police check ic is to have a data base of who is at the place for that time they are being check. and anything happened to the place, we can trace back, its call leads. and if we didnt check their IC, other members of public(MP) will say police didnt do anything. and we kana complain. and sometimes we will find something fishy when we check IC, as there got the person's address, and he got no bussniess at the place, we will question them.

check IC is for the safety and protection of the public.
as describe by scenerio above, it is a way of detering crime, vandalsim and gang fights.
and at same time catch suspect on the run.
eg, a group of rowdy youth adults playing BB , singing or guitars at void decks , chases each other and small fights. residents complains, police come check IC, one found to be drug offender on the run and missed reporting. search all of them found drugs and knifes.
glue sniffing is most common.
imagine what will happen if they tooks drugs and molest , robbed any of the residents coming home. and if no IC scan, then the CO of the NPC will be in trouble. by the way once the IC is scanned, i believe it is recorded,
they always hang out together. you see one , you will know the others are somewhere nearby and up to something no good.
the best way to combat neighbourhood crimes an disorder behaviuor is residents alerting police.
please when handling IC to officers, do it in respectful way , and stand up first unless told otherwise. and show manners. If not they can treat you using the same procedure as hooligans or gangster. especially if a call is from the resident with certain connections.
anyway it is wrong to disturb residents staying there with night activities. next time you disturb someone , and that someone knows where you stay , he will go and disturb your family members at your unit. eye for and eye. -

if someone with the intention of commiting crime in the area got his IC checked by the police...,if smart most likely would not go ahead.
but I guess singapore's crooks are either yaya or stupid..
Alot kena caught b'cos they names comeup in the logsheet of patroling officers in the area..
