CNB= Cock N Bull
CNB= ???
CNB was formerly the Narcotics Branch of the CID.
In the 1970's , it became separated from the SPF when the Misuse of Drugs Act was enacted. Officers were seconded from both the SPF and Customs. The first director, John Hanam, was a Customs guy who built up the fearsome reputation of the CNB.
The second director was Tee Tua Bah, who took oversaw Ops Ferret- the rounding up of thousands of drug addicts so as to contain the spread of drug addiction and to bring demand of drugs down.
The third director was Poh Geok Ek, followed by Sim Poh Heng and Tan Sek Kang- all former ISD officers........
At one stage, CNB was so good that they were able to operate both in Singapore and internationally, breaking up the International AH KONG syndicate which controlled the European wholesale drug market. The AH KONG group shot dead the Hong Kong Triad boss in Amstedam and took over, thanks to the NS - SAF training of its members.
In spite of all these, CNB officers tend to get into trouble as they move in a world of grey......how do you get info if you don't mix with the underworld? But take one free drink and you'll be in trouble........and many good CNB officers ended up in jail or got sacked.....very sad.....typical of plainclothes police officers who bend the law for a higher goal ....

Hmm don't understand what you're trying to say too...
That is the downside of going undercover. Once you are exposed, you are as good as dead.Originally posted by Dr Who:In spite of all these, CNB officers tend to get into trouble as they move in a world of grey......how do you get info if you don't mix with the underworld? maybe he now underworld boss enjoying himself leh?Originally posted by Dr Who:One of the most famous undercover officers of CNB was an operative called the Pink Panther. He was able to penetrate deep into syndicates at great risk to himself. At his prime, he was able to arrest more than 10 drug traffickers a month, so that he waas even featured in the press.
As with all undercover agents, Pink Panther somehow lost his way. He lost the sense of right and wrong when he carried his make-belief role into real life......he started to shop lift....... and got caught...... and got sacked and jailed.......He is out there somewhere today..........probably still in the dark underworld...... a good cop gone bad........very sad case..............
my point is: don't try to have ambitions of undercover work.....it's not only dangerous.........you can destroy yourself.....
