During my good old days, there is no mention about wearing those badges. Nobody seems to be bothered to mention about them. In my batch, we have a number of SAF officers who joined as regular JOs. We have the impression that we are not supposed to wear our airborne, taekwondo black belt and thai wing (overseas). Well. I don't remember that I am given any document about my airborne wing. As for TKD, we have been given the cert for black belt from Federation and the instructor cert. I see other officers wearing more then a pair of wings. And they are not related to the SPF. -

Details of the "badges" are required.

Yes, there's a cert. given to all participants who passed any courses conducted by SAF.
As for TKD, there's also Cert. issued and should one qualified for 1st dan onwards, their names will be gazatted. Do approach TKD Federation and request a letter of certification.
Without seeking clearance for wearing "unknown badges" is a disciplinary offence.

For the TKD part, I am quite clear about it and I think I can still recover the cert for both black belt and instructor from the stack of papers ... the only prob is the airborne. Can briefly recall that they issue a cert but hmm ... think down the drain.
Well the badges have been awarded during overseas training and been wearing on the SAF uniform. As usual, overseas wings on the right hand side above name tag. -

What are VSC doing in Airport? I have seen SATS and CAAS Police. At times, regulars and SOC folks with SAF.
Seldom see VSC in Airport. -

However, that does not includes marksman, IPPT, TKD, Guardsman, Rangers badge as that is not medals/colours.
The only exception is Airborne badges, which includes Rigger badge.
It is not common to have too many SAF officers (ex or present) to be in VSC. As for NSmen who are in VSC, do not think they have that many medals/colours. -

did you noticed that the GSM medals from SAF and SPF are different colours? try putting two GSM medals in one uniform, will you look like a 'special force' officer?

I also see VSC officers putting on more then one colour.
Let say they have only serve 12 years with SPF and still has 25 years service with the SAF.
The uniform look like a boys brigade uniform with lots, and I mean lots of colours. Isnt PO suppose to look plain, simple and easy to blend into the background and people?
Some officers rather keep their SPF uniform plain and simple, less tears & trouble during any struggle with any subjects.
They only wear their colours/medals on their number one uniform. -
Hmmm....I just answered a question on email. Might as well post it here for everyone to know.
VSC accepts applications from males that have completed their NS obligation.
However
Let say you are 21, signed up with SAF for 5 years, serving your NS at the same time. 1st 2 years you are considered as doing your NS (full pay) and the next 3 years as actual SAF.
You will require approvals from SAF if you intend to apply and also volunteer as VSC.
And
If you are already serving SAF/SCDF/CISCO/PSA/ICA/ as an regular officer, you are required to have the approval of your immediate supervisors from SAF/SCDF/CISCO/PSA/ICA to allow you serving as VSC concurrently. -
I was quite fuzzy and sad when I noticed it.
It was a wooden tablet mounted on the wall of the VSCHQ.
On it was 3 names. The last being of SI Seah Ben Hur.
It was a tablet with the names of the VSCs that had died while on duty.
