Jem and The Holograms

Girls and glam were all the rage back in the late 80s (yeah, only in the late 80s) ...and Jem and the Holograms were there to provide us with more than our fair share of all the fashions and strange lingo of a decade since past. What little girl didn't want to grow up to be just like the princess of rock, Jem? What little boy didn't want to grow up to be Rio, Jerrica's boyfriend and Jem's stage manager. Poor Rio...he's in love with both and doesn't have the brains to figure out they're the same person. Rio also had to compete for Jem's affections against Riot, the lead-singer of the Stingers who managed to look twice as effeminine as me and the entire cast of the Holograms combined.
The Jem and the Holograms music group was owned by Starlight Music, a black sheep in the music industry due to their actual caring about causes such as charity and housing foster children. Constantly on top of the charts, their only real rivals were the evil rock group, The Misfits. Pizzazz, who has pea-green hair and army camoflauge paint on her cheeks, leads the group and will even break the rules to get on top.
When Jerrica uses Synergy, a girl somehow connected to the star earrings she wears, she'll turn into Jem, grrl-rockin'-kinderwhore era-supreme pop star who's here to save the day! -
Jem and the Holograms
They were constantly on top of the music charts, coming, seemingly, out of nowhere.
They are owned by Starlight Music, and hold lots of benefits for their charity, the Starlight Foundation, which houses foster girls.
Jem
She's Jerrica Benton's alter ego, the lead singer of Jem and the Holograms. She also acts, travels, and other glamorous things that rock stars do along with dating Rio.
Jerrica Benton
She lives a full life. She's the President of Starlight Music and also runs the Starlight Foundation, a foster home for girls. At night she uses Synergy to transform into Jem. Wow! Rio, her boyfriend, keeps her company. -
Kimber Benton
She's the youngest Hologram (20ish) and therefore has a tendency to act impulsively, but she has a large heart, and it really shows up in her music writing. She plays keyboards and guitar in the band.
Aja Benton
Another Benton (adopted) sister who plays guitar in the band. She may be hard-headed, but she is a real fitness fanatic. She used to be a Starlight girl and gives them free aerobic lessons.
Shana Elmsford
She plays drums and guitar in the band. Extremely loyal to her friends, she is a fashion designer and artist at heart. Most of the outfits worn by the band were designed by her.
Raya
She is the new drummer for the Holograms because she joined while Shana was gone. She stayed when she found out Jem's secret and became good friends with the group. She came from a large Hispanic family living in LA. -
Their Friends and Associates
Jem and the Holograms, of course, made lots of friends at the top. Most anyone with a good heart who worked with the Holograms at any point became friends with the group. Its that easy! -
Synergy
She's the reason Jem exists at all. She is connected to the star earrings that Jerrica wears, and projects a hologram of Jem when it hears "Showtime, Synergy" and shuts off at "Shows over, Synergy".
Danse
She's the band's choreographer. Ever since she was a child, she's been trained in dance because her mother was a famous dancer in Yugoslavia. She volunteers at the Haven House, a place for runaways

She is a famous filmmaker who is currently directing the music videos for Jem and the Holograms. She always travels with the group and has become a good friend. Unfortunately, though, she is Clash's cousin and Clash always tries to ruin her career. -
Synergy

Lindsey
She's the hottest VJ for VTV. She has her own show called Lin-Z TV where she plays a lot of Jem's videos for free. Lindsey and Jem bonded over common problems with the Misfits, and now they're great friends.
Rio
This is a poor misguided fellow. He is Jerrica's boyfriend and Jem's (much in demand) stage manager. He is in love with them both. Not only that, but he has competition when Riot decides Jem is right for him.
Riot
He is the lead singer of the Stingers, the band he formed with Minx. He has an enormous ego and thinks he can get anything he wants, and he has his sights set on Jem. By the end of the series he was just beginning to become friends with the Holograms. -
The Misfits
This is a group, owned by Misfit Music, that is always in competition with the holograms for the top spot. Pizzazz, the leader, is willing to do anything to get there too, but somehow her plans always failed. They are not well liked because of their strong irritating personalities. -
Pizzazz
She's the ringleader of the Misfits and Jem's arch-rival. She is a spoiled rotten daddy's girl, and will always have her way. She competes with Jem because Jem is at the top of the charts, and has Riot's attention.
Roxy
She is the toughest member of the Misfits. She is hard to the core. If she wants something, NOTHING will stand in her way. She is one uncontrollable person.
Stormer
She has a heart of gold, and she's the only Misfit with any real talent. She was actually friends with the Holograms for a while, but returned to the Misfits. She has a very low self-esteem though, and that is why she stays with the group.
Clash
She is the cousin of Video and does nothing but create problems. She is not a Misfit (even though she wants to be) but Pizzazz keeps her around to cause problems for the Holograms.
Jetta
She came from England to play Saxophone for the band. She is the newest member of the Misfits who joined when Raya joined the Holograms. She is a pathological liar, and loves to hurt people, so she fit in like a (bad luck) charm.
Eric Raymond
Eric, the manager of the Misfits, was once a co-owner of Starlight music, but Jerrica wouldn't let him. Then he waged war. -
