jc/poly qualifications is only a part of the components points system... bmt performance, peer appraisal, situation test all form parts of the components...
Hello,
Cld anyone explain how OCS works for people from NDU? When do you get posted to NDU? After BMT? What happens to the diving and all that stuff then? Also, what happens after you get comissioned? Sent back to NDU and?

go ndu basic diver course 1st, then passed out liao, those selected ones will go ocs, commissioned already, posted back to ndu...
So what happens to an officer when you get posted to NDU?
NDU is mono intake
finish BMT and physical phase then go to OCS then come back and pass out with ur intake.
Basically u need to be superman to get into ocs in NDU.
When is the intake for NDU btw? Cos i got my VA on 19th Feb. SO when will I find out?
Oh btw, OCS got rugby team?
september intake.
when u are at the VA, ask as much as you want. Dont need to feel paiseh.
So when will I know if I've been selected for NDU?
just wait for enlistment letter. no real date.
Hi, just one question. After the first two weeks of OCS, parents and friends are allowed to visit the cadets at SAFTI. What are the restrictions on the things we can bring to the cadets? Obviously nothing like laptops, cameras and so on, but what about food, [safe] magazines and other "non-contraband" items?

depends on your wing. but there shouldn't be any problems should parents wish to bring their sons/daughters anything. with regards to cameras, i had a fair number of my friends take pictures at OCS HQ/ landmark etc. of course they'd tell you its not allowed and they'd charge you, etc etc etc, but nothing happened to them. haha.

just a disclaimer: i replied this earlier, but somehow or another, it didn't register. if my reply DOES appear again, i'm sorry.
to your question: no, OCS has no rugby team. in fact, unless substantial changes has been made since i left 1 year ago, there is no organised sporting teams under the OCS banner save for the AHM (Army Half Marathon) team.
with regards to sports in OCS, which i think you seemed concerned about, most wings actually avoid contact sports. this is mostly due to their desire to avoid unnecessary injuries and the subsequent OOC (out of course) of cadets. However, if your wing does allow you to play recreational sports, chances are it'd be in the evening, and mostly limited to soccer and basketball. Furthermore, it'd be only towards the end of your service term/ pro term, when they start giving wing appointment holders more responsibility and flexibility to request such things.
however, i recall air wing playing soccer almost every evening after their instructors leave. that was before they left for AFS (air force school)
the mids (navy) wings are almost always studying, so if you DO make it to NDU, well, forget about sports. haha.
Hey all. I recently OOC from OCS due to my flat feet problem. Thing is, i received a 3 months excuse RMJ and Lower Limb Activities but no Downpes ( meaning i'd still be PES B). It's been about a month now since i OOC (i OOC'ed on the 4th week in OCS) and till now, there has been no news of my new posting at all but one thing is for sure, i will not be recoursing. I was wondering if anyone here could enlighten me regarding certain questions.
1) Where are the vocations i am likely to end up in considering the fact that i am only a Permanent Resident of Sgpore.
2) Would the fact that i am still under 2 months excuse RMJ/LL mean that i may have to wait 2 batches after mine cause the next batch is coming in real soon.
3) Is there any chance that i may become a storeman which no offence, is not my ideal vocation. (i heard A lvl or equivalent won't become storemen though)
So yeah. Those are the few questions. I really hope those with the knowledge regarding this matter can drop a message or reply cause i'm really in a desperate situation to get out of OCS ASAP.
Thanks for reading!
Tin2, If you still in the wingline as an OOC maybe you should approach your TCO with regard to your reposting status. He will then bring up the matter to the Wing Comd. And if you are at HQ, check with the OOC Spec or Chief Clerk.
And to your questions, CPC will decide on what vocation shoud they posted you to based on your medical condition. On the time frame, you have to check with your superior. And yes, there are A lvl holders that become storemen. This is due the seriousness of their medical condition.
Hope this will clear some of your doubts.
Congratulations to the newly commissioned officers from 73/08!
